It was horrible. Gagifying. We called it liquid lawn. But my Father always showed great praise for it, it was truly the thought that counted.
Yep, it's the thought that counts...
But also, did it get you drunk? That's the other thought that counts!!!

I have had 'shine from several states. None of it really appealed to me all that much. But my dad started getting some homemade peach brandy from SE OH near where BEF is originally from. That was actually pretty tasty.

I think the worst part of using radiators to make 'shine was not being clean. The ethaline glycol was causing the blindness and other health issues.

That’s exactly right, plus the lead leaching out as well. But the antifreeze was the big problem.

My wife’s stepfather was a state trooper retired now chased Richard Pettys father, Cale Yarborough and others caught Cale he was a good driver. I heard lots of stories but one common denominator they treated each other with respect. Once he was chasing a man called squeak turned police car over when he ran off edge of road. When he came to squeak was helping him out of the car made sure he was alright and left

Those of you have had home made apple jack what was the method used to produce it.
Mine my Grandfather made, he always made two barrels of hard cider each year. Starting with
fresh apple juice (cider) with usually brown sugar or molasses added to it and often other fruits
that were ripe and available, some would be tossed in the press with the ground up apples some
like berries he would just add to the barrel. As the cider aged and worked it would go from a
"sparkling" cider with just a bit of fizz and tang to a full blown alcoholic beverage when it reached
that stage he waited for cold weather then we would roll the barrel(s) outside and he would wait
for them to freeze up and get slushy at that point he would draw off the liquid threw some cheese
cloth and bottle it there wasn't much apple taste left in then so he would add just a bit of the bottom of the
barrel slush to the bottles for flavor. It did pack a kick, just a sip would thaw your insides.

We made ever clear and red whisky, that was aged in charcoaled barrels. The actual aging depended on how much the customer wanted to pay. A lot of guys would put peaches, cherries, strawberry’s, blackberries or whatever, in the bottom of the jug.

Saw a BX with mid mount mower on the Kubota lot yesterday so I queried my salesman. Said it was another customer’s but Sophie’s is ready to be shipped. Likely be a month before it gets here but that’s exciting. Anytime between now and end of March and I’ll claim as her birthday present

That's tempting, Don. But Kyle already spilled the beans about scorpions, I'd need a dog like Whipper to save me from the snakes, and I'd most certainly melt in the summer humidity. I like the idea about being able to wear a red hat without being insulted (or assaulted) though. And this time around, I'm hoping to find a barn that is already raised. I feel like I'm running out of time to do a DIY version.

These guys make it tough, maybe I should rethink built in dishwasher?
