9 degrees at home, 68 here.
my friends have a really nice home on a large canal right off the Intracoastal and we can see the boats go by not far away. I think there will be some quality time on the back porch

Here's an interesting map...interactive like Flight Radar, except for maritime traffic...looks like Houston is very busy with tankers, and the St Lawrence Seaway is still open (I thought it would freeze over in winter).

MarineTraffic: Global Ship Tracking Intelligence | AIS Marine Traffic
Most of the traffic you see on the Great Lakes are vessels heading to winter layup. I believe Welland Canal is closed for season. Like the locks at Sault Ste Marie. Which closed last week end for winter maintenance. St Lawrence Seaway may also be closed. Ships you see may still be transmitting position. I did the Welland Canal 2 time with my 29' boat. A great experience.

Eric Salop said, "Our fields look a lot more empty this morning, 2/3rd of the ewes are now away at a friends farm for indoor lambing, safe from all the crows and ravens."

Eric, I like reading about your sheep, perhaps because that's one of the few critters with which I have absolutely no personal experience. As a youngster I had to milk cows, raised and showed registered Berkshire hogs, had dogs, chickens, I've had 3 horses (one at a time), and in later life had some goats, raised New Zealand White rabbits, even owned a donkey for a while. And I'm sure I've cooked and eaten a larger variety of critters than most; everything from many varieties of birds and squirrels to black bear, moose, and caribou.

BUT I've had absolutely no experience with sheep. I've only on a couple of occasions eaten lamb, at the home of one of my sisters. And I liked it, but my wife and I have just never bought or fixed any at home.

So I find your your posts on TBN interesting and informative.

Good morning, low temp is 7 and going up to 19°F. Wind SSE 14 gusting to 20 mph. 40% chance of flurries.

I was downstairs this morning waking up the wood furnace, when there came a knock at the door. Got the furnace going (I don't leave it until I see flame happening off the coals) and come to find there is a cop at the door. He said there was a 911 call from this house. It sure as h*ll wasn't me nor my phone when I checked it (I park my phone face down and found it that way when I looked). Got Robert up and he checked his phone and his wifes' zero 911 action from either of those. I think the cop was mistaken on the address, but I wasn't about to tell him so. My municipal addy, we use the emergency numbers as the municipal street number (emergency number is 96 and the neighbour across the road and a bit closer to town is 69. Her Emergency number gets stolen regularly, so she hasn't replaced it and wont until she can find a permanent solution.

So it being this cold out I am going to conserve energy today.

Have a safe day all

-2F and fair @ 07:30, heading up to a high of 27F. We'll stay in the deep freeze through the end of the month from the looks of things.

Thanks for all the birthday well wishes, appreciated.

Happy (belated) anniversary to Buppies and his Missus.

And best wishes to Top for healing on the slicing' and dicin' + curb wrestling and BEF's brother on the COVID. (We have one extended family member who recently had it but seems to be improving now) Also recovery and healing for Ted, Don, and Kyle's Moms.

MG - probably no on changes to tractor repair schedule.

The big grocery excursion got put off the other day but Woman did go out for other reasons and picked up Indian for dinner while She was out. I got the Lamb Sheekh Kabab as they call it (uses ground lamb) for the first time and it was very good so I'll be getting that again.

The Woman even commented that she liked it ... which is saying something, mainly because it wasn't chicken.

Some recent good news on the state economic front in the past couple of days - Intel will apparently be investing up to $100 billion what may end up potentially being the world's largest chipmaking facility. They'll start with an initial $20 billion dollar chip making plant down on a 1,000 acre site down near Columbus which will create 3,000 jobs and it could expand up to 8 plants total. No idea on what all economic ripple effects will eventually flow from that, but a number of Intel suppliers have expressed an interest in locating facilities in the region.

Feeders due to be refilled today and I'm sure the birds will appreciate it.

After that probably mostly paperwork and email.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive (if you want to be - otherwise conserve energy is fine ;) ), and safe day.
