Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 8:00AM. Rain. Thunderstorms possible...mainly in the afternoon. High 54F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 100%.
Mother Nature gifted us with 0.64" of rain yesterday, adding another half inch since midnight. The winds did pick up, though, enough to rattle the porch cover and sliding doors, and drive the rain hard enough into the windows to wake me up a couple times last night.
Neat hawk story, Billy.
Snap-On sells 10mm combination wrenches in several lengths, and none of them are inexpensive, Doug. The mechanic that lost the one that Drew found was not having a good day, and was almost certainly aware of his loss. But being on the clock, he probably couldin't afford the time to go looking for it in the confined spaces of the typical modern car. Not sure what you mean by "shifter" though, maybe we call them extensions, which fit between a socket and ratchet handle and come in various lengths?
I looked into R1s for the M63, Kyle, but they would not fit the rims that are on there now, and they don't have the load capacity for the backhoe if I switched rims. At least that's what the Kubota dealer told me. But I'm getting pretty good at getting it to slide in more or less the direction I want to go, and have a winch mount on the box blade if I get really stuck. If I get really, really stuck, I think the neighbor gets a perverse sense of satisfaction out of hauling the Kubota back up the hill with his John Deere.
All of the trees the wind has knocked down here have been Live Oaks so far, Bird. But the acorns from them are a little more than an inch long and maybe 3/8" in diameter at the largest, with both ends somewhat pointed. I think I figured out it's the woodpeckers that are jamming the acorns above the man door into the 24' box trailer, which then come showering down on my head every time I need to get in there. Just another reason to hate Live Oaks, and the beating the woodpeckers are giving to the office trailer have them on my Naughty list this year.
I think I had staples for one or the other of my wrist operations, Don. The nurse used a pliers type device to remove them, and the worst pain I felt was still less than a typical allergy shot. Most of them I felt nothing.
As of yesterday, our local hospital is showing a slight uptick in the number of CV19 admittances, but there's no sign of Omicron here yet. I found several
news stories this morning that said two of the three available monoclonal antibodies available are ineffective against the new Omicron variant, and that supplies of the remaining one are severely strained. With all the holiday socializing, that could end up being a double whammy for the Covid numbers. One thing to keep in mind is that the current vaccines were never advertised as being able to provide immunity. Rather, they reduce the effects to limit hospital admissions and deaths. The Moderna vaccine seems to be better at that with Omicron, but people will still have breakthrough cases. Jim Cramer was diagnosed with Omicron last week, and all he got was a sore throat. I think he said he was vaccinated and boosted with Moderna.
Started gathering supplies for the trip next week, and since I've been buying herbs and spices in one pound containers I'll never use up before they spoil, I put together little care packages for two of my friends that like to cook. Now I need to find smaller bottles for the portions I have left to save some space in the spice cabinet.
I'd like to get some more sound deadening into the van, but when I looked up the temperature requirements for the adhesive, it was too cold yesterday. Looks like today or tomorrow might work later in the afternoon, though. And while I'm in town today I'll stop by a flooring store and see if I can snag a carpet remnant and some padding that'll help with noise, too.
Not much else on the dance card for today.
Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!
