popgadget, I've been watching Matt for about a year now. Some interesting recoveries.
Fab Rats is good too. Sometimes he helps Matt.

Hard to watch one without following the other. I particularly am enjoying the saga of the golden nugget.

Roy I know you are taking good care of your wife while her leg is healing, but do you ever leave her notes like my wife leaves me?
Nah... either my stepdaughter or I are here at all times and we all have cell phones. Other than the leg, my wife is pretty healthy. If we do have to leave, it's only for local stops. As an example, stepdaughter goes to a chiropractor...just up in Randolph (about 6 miles) and isn't gone for more than an hour, hour and 15 minutes. For me, normally just the weekly dump run.
And, of course, if it's an emergency, there's 911

I had parked my truck on the lawn yesterday so I wouldn't have to move it before clearing the drive. Boy! Big mistake!! The average depth of the snow was a good 8" or so, but along the truck's driver side door...probably a foot. My shoes and jean's legs were both covered in snow (about mid-shin down). Shoes are drying (again), jeans, socks and shirt are in the dryer. Truck's fairly cleaned off....I think I'm done for the day. Gettin' too damned old for this stuff!!!

Roy hope you got the rum before the snow started
Negative...the rum is going to be a Christmas present. I'm not a rum drinker... I'll pick it up one day this week

In my first post today, I'd written it was 29° and that's where it was going to stay...well, wrong!!! It's 23° right now (0924 EST) and will be dropping to single digits (7 or 8 degrees) tonight

Good Morning!!!! 34F @ 6:15AM. Foggy this morning, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 46F. Winds light and variable.

Thanks for sharing your story, Rich. Glad you're still with us!

Congrats on the new record mileage, Bruce.

Cut up and dragged off another tree yesterday, and found yet another one down. If it keeps up like this, there soon won't be any left. Need to fill the hole where the root ball was, then start on the next one today.

Another nice thing about the electric chainsaw is the slow rate of cut. It lets the tree give lots of warning before the cut breaks off, letting me and the saw take a few steps back and safely watch the chaos from a distance.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

Morning to all;
Well I'm being real lazy this morning, the forecast 4-8 inches did not happen.
We got about 1 1/2" then it turned to sleet, then freezing rain, then rain, ended up with less then an inch of crusty crumbly stuff.
With a small buildup of ice on the tree limbs. So with it at 24F and projected single digits tonight I've been debating with myself
on what to do with the driveway, I have to shovel and scrape the walk areas maybe use a bit of calcium and sand. Thinking I may use the york rake to crumble and break up the icy crust on the driveway and then wait to see if I need to fill the sander and sand or not.
Finish reading the online edition of the local paper first.
Everyone stay safe out there.

What? your a sailor who doesn't like rum? That's like 1 of 3 main habits sailors pickup (amongst others)....rum, smoking, black coffee in no particular order. LOL....I guess your just more refined now.

40F here this am, but warming up. Sun is out today. Nice day.

It is easy to get to watching YT videos and wonder where your day went...mea culpa.

Time for church. Prayers for recoveries and healing...and our nation.

32F and cloudy @ 11:00, heading up to a high of 36F for the day. Got a light dusting of snow overnight, enough to cover some surfaces (pole barn roof, leaves in the wooded areas) but the lawn is still green.

Yesterday there was enough rain that there was standing water in the low spots of the lawn.

Ten Day shows no precipitation for the next five days so should get some drainage, if not drying. With high temps only the low 40's it will only be drainage I suspect ... lol. Next two days should be fairly nice (sunny) though.

Quite a few birds out around the feeders and garden this morning, probably about a dozen doves. Hopper feeder empty, it and the sunflower tube feeders will need refilled. Check birdbath also on menu.

Electric fence still standing, no evidence that anyone got tangled up in it ... and no evidence of further digging in the planting bed. Got a dozen or so tin cans drilled yesterday, need to string them together today and get them up on the fence maybe. Be another a day or two before I get to putting the bottom two wires up.

More clean up done in the basement, will do some more on that today.

Got the 1 x 6 x 6 cedar fence panel cut up into sections for hopper feeder, had a good bit left over since there was some remaining from the last one. Have to cut the angles on the end pieces today and can then start putting it together. Once I get it put together I'll pull the existing hopper feeder and bring it inside for the thorough cleaning and refurbishment, along with the old squirrel feeder which is already inside.

Need to get the three replacement pieces of stove pipe for the woodburner screwed together, pull the old ones out and inspect the elbows on the ends to see what kind of shape they are in. If those need replaced, a trip into Ace Hardware may be on the agenda. Will be good to have it hooked up again, obviously for the backup heat source but also just to be able to get rid of waste paper and burnable trash.

Amazon just dropped off small order, which included a couple Staedtler garden paint pens for marking plant labels. Have 30 plastic push-in labels that need marked, may get to that later this evening.

The order also included a set of those Milwaukee folding knives that Popgadget mentioned awhile back (Cha-ching !), which seem very nice ... will be good to have something that I can easily carry on the belt for cutting.

Beyond the above will probably do some clean up in the kitchen and dining room, along with some laundry and dishes.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe Sunday ... (y)

66°F and .89 inches rain

Got another couple hours of mowing yesterday less than half done in that area. Looks like I might get weathered out today. If so, may watch some football.

Hand and Foot this afternoon

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
