I had my share of bad ones in the rehab center a couple yrs ago

Buckeye, while I was in my first three bad weeks in hospital, with dementia and hallucinations, I was incontinent.
Couldn't help it, zero control. Thank the Lord on the first day of the fourth week all my symptoms stopped overnight and
I was fine, sort of, thereafter. But my young not very bright nurses aid was put out that she had to change my linens so often and
install a catheter repeatedly. So she hauled off and slapped me on the way out one night. Not my face, down there.
I was sort of dumfounded. Here I was, basically mentally deficient (always happily I might add) and clearly not in control due to what they thought was a stroke.
There were a lot of folks in worse shape than me and I wonder if anyone else got a love tap too.
Clearly someone who should not be in nursing and harboring a mean streak.

You can't make this up...nor would I.
Folks who came after her in rehab were awesome. This was in ICU. Night shift.
Because of Covid, family could not come in and provide oversight.
However I had a great oncologist and that's all that ultimately matters.

I do hope that nurse got fired. I never complained, figured no one would believe me.

Good luck with your new electrician, Doug. We had to replace our electrician about halfway through the project when we remodeled our house. The guy would hardly ever show up, and it seemed we were always waiting for him to do something before we could move on to something else. He'd show up, work for about 45 minutes, then disappear. Even the carpenter who recommended him was getting frustrated with him. The new guy was there every day, on time, and worked all day. We ended up having him completely rewire the house to a new box once the basement was torn out.
Sounds like you and I had the same guy. He even made my kitchen installer remove some cabinets he had just fitted so he could punch holes in the wall and then just left them. He argued with the installer (who is a brilliant guy) and upset him so I told him to come for a walk and relax a bit. Turned out to be a very arrogant sod and wasted so much time. He was extremely overweight and got his offsider to pick up everything he dropped as he couldn't bend over. His offsider did nothing except run to the truck for tools and hand him stuff. The offsider fitted one wall plate and it was 5mm lower on one end. Mr O'weight then fitted 3 wall plugs out of 4 and then went home without telling me he hadn't connected them. The power was right there to connect up. This left us with no power in the kitchen for electric jug or m'wave etc. The 4th plug was for the dishwasher which we needed. He didn't even fit a wall plug, he just left the wires poking out the wall. When he left (which surprised me as he had heaps to do) he said he would get back when he could in a few days. ??? This was the last straw. I told him to make up his account and not bother coming back. All he could say was "Oh, all good, all good." He must have been upset as when he got home he actually rang me 2 times accidentally so I blocked his number. Hopefully the new guy can finish off so I can re-fit the cladding on the wall of the house again.
Mr O'weight was in no hurry to oblige me there.

"Rich, that's a hell of a story (your hospital visit)"

Oh there is more.....once I was admitted there were some interesting happenings. Some of which is similar to Drew's story.

But I will recount that as I get there.

I probably am boring people but so far, it has been surprisingly therapeutic. Maybe I needed to relive this in my head after I tried to forget it.

Well, about 2 weeks in the hospital, then 6 weeks in rehab...all after a moderate stroke 22 years ago.
Reckon we all had issues during those stays...

My neighbor is saying similar stuff about his symptoms that you have been posting. Yesterday he went to hospital. Not sure what treatment they gave. Then sent him home. But last night he got a full night of sleep that he has not had in days. Being less than 40 years old helps him.

Drew, I complained, sent an email to the head of the spinal care unit I was in, in the middle of the night. (GBS patients are put in spinal care unit). The head nurse visited me the first thing in the morning to find out what happened. Think it helped. Basically I was in extreme pain and night nurse wouldn’t give me pain meds because she didn’t think I needed it.
The PT and OT people were fabulous in the rehab center.
I had a couple nurses that were top notch. The neurologist Dr was very good.

Please keep going with your story, Rich. This country is still a long way from being out of the woods with Covid, and reading your account will help us know what to look out for, and should the worst happen, what to expect.

Glad you're still with us, buddy! (y)
