I suppose I should buy a bottle of vodka for my brother's infrequent visits. All I know is he doesn't like Stoli.
There is always some new designer vodka out there. I'll see what they have.
I know nothing about Vodka, Drew, except they go into a Harvey Wallbanger, which brings back bad college memories. But one of my buddies is a real Vodka snob. But he's open minded as well, and was willing to try an ancient bottle I had here last time he visited. He was very pleasantly surprised, liked it as well as any he'd tried before, but I don't know how widely experienced he is. Anyway, the stuff is called Vodka Monopolowa, J. A. Baczewski, and he finished what I had...

24° right now...now, about 30 or so..

Got the wife duty the rest of the week, so I'll be working from home. Since I know the transfer station (i.e. dump) will be closed this weekend, I will have to make a run today or tomorrow

What, whoever heard of a dump closed on Thanksgiving? Just don’t make 1 big pile out of 2 little piles. And watch out for officer Obie.

It’s time to play it.

I put an old area rug on the floor under the stairs to the basement, so when I feel the difference between the hard step
and the cushioned bottom, I know I can move forward. Both hands on laundry basket and none on railings means need to be super
careful. Sometimes if the basket is too full, and heavy, I turn around and drag it down backwards down the stairs with one hand
on the rail. It isn't hard to get hurt.

Since having GBS I don’t trust my legs carrying stuff down stairs, so I do same thing. Go down backwards, hold on with 1 hand and drag things down.

Most important task of the day is a brewery run. Need to replenish a keg for TDay. Still need Lima beans for succotash.
Who needs a turkey when you got beer (and a bag of pretzels or chips)?

Good Morning
It’s 28 and going to climb all the way to 40 today. Clear skies and 30kt winds should make it feel cold, and make todays trip to Hagerstown and Burlington,VT interesting.

Yesterday went by pretty quickly. UPS brought me a battery to put in the little plane, an ultrasonic cleaner and a drill bit for putting driveway markers in frozen ground.
Add to that the arrival of my new grapple, and I was entertained all day.
There’s only two hoses to connect, so you would think that I have a 50/50 chance of getting them right on the first try, but we all know the reality. So after I tested it and then swapped the hoses so that it worked the way I wanted it to, it was off to the next project.

Next stop was the airport, battery installation went well, figured that I might as well go out for a ride around the neighborhood to test it out, that was fun, and everything worked well.

Then back to the shop to try out the ultrasonic cleaner. I got the 15L Rovsun suggested by someone here. After talking to a jeweler friend, I elected to try it with just water rather any fancy specialty fluid. For my test, I had a carburetor that had gas turn to varnish in it. I disassembled it and put in in the tank after letting it heat up to 160 degrees. No solvent, no scrubbing. Just put in the tank, pull it out 30 minutes later and blow it off.

I was impressed with the results.

Hagerstown MD?

Nice on the cleaning, guess it’s on my list.
Would carb fit in 10L?

33F and partly cloudy @ 12:30, heading up to a high of 36F for the day.

Looked out the master bedroom window a few minutes ago, big hawk was on the ground back at the hopper feeder with a squirrel. He flew off ... without the squirrel. Guess I startled him. Woman said he came back after that but flew off again without the squirrel when she looked. Hope he takes it eventually.

Got ready in plenty of time for the trip to get the booster yesterday. Even printed out my appointment info with the confirmation code after digging out my proof of vaccination cards. Knew the van was low on diesel, so swung by the big new BellStore down in Canal Fulton to put some in the tank. After that I headed off towards Canton for the appointment. Got better than halfway there and realized I had forgotten to grab my cards for the previous vaccinations. Driving back to the house it became apparent there was no way I was going to be able to make it back to pick up the cards and still make the appointment. Tried to call them and let them know I wasn't going to be able to make it but couldn't get through. So I consigned myself to having to make another appointment.

After that I took the Cub and various tools around back and worked on the new planting bed some. Got the leaves blown off with the Stihl BG56 and then raked the areas where we had planted bulbs so that it was smooth. Still have a little more work to do on that, probably tomorrow when it's warmer, calling for a high of 49F.

Ran over the leaves which were now on the lawn with the Cub and ground those up.

Recorded all the planting locations of the day lilies for labels.

Took down the old squirrel feeder and brought it in for a little tune up.

Took cleaned deer feeder out and put it up back at the back of the yard and put about a gallon of deer corn on the ground.

Took plants down into the basement where it's cooler, still need to get the bulbs taken down.

Noticed bucket on Kubota was rolled back and holding some water so I started it up and raised the loader and rolled the bucket forward so it would drain.

Headed up to shop to try and locate my red Dykem Brite-Mark paint pen to use for marking plant labels. Took around a 1/2 hour but I finally found it ... once I thought to look in the cup that hold the marking implements. Looks like the tip is probably going to be too wide though.

At that point my feet were pretty much frozen and it was getting dark so I came back on down to the house.

Wasn't long after that that The Woman called to let me know she was on her way home. We opted to go with take-out from the local Chinese place for dinner, which is right on the way, quick, and usually pretty good. I tried their Singapore Mei Fun for the first time (along with some Hot-n-Sour soup) and it was very good, will be ordering that one again.

Got a nice email back on the missing items on the plant order saying she would let the folks in the warehouse know and have them ship out the items asap ... (y)

Agenda for today includes refilling the hopper feeder and running out to some papers notarized.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.

Rich, that's a hell of a story (your hospital visit)

Glad everything turned out reasonably well!!

Yes, interesting to read, not fun with bad nurses, I had my share of bad ones in the rehab center a couple yrs ago. But 1 or 2 very good nurses that were like angels.

Not looking too good on the shed, but such is my fate on this I think. Just plain doomed.
They didn't send the right lettered parts. Maybe they are interchangeable, I have no idea.
Going to try one more time to build it.

Got some xmas lights up, they all turned on, then sucked up leaves, and by time I was done
was very chilled and glad to get inside out of cold wind.

was bad and saw an awesome home made apple pie at store, and since I had been good with other
purchases, brought it home. Apples were a little crunchy. Back in oven it went, and shortly I'm sitting down with a piece
of warm apple pie and hot coffee and all will be right with the world.
I would love to sit in a recliner next to a wood stove right now.
