Good morning!!!!

Have I mentioned in the past, more than 15 or 20 times, that I hate live oak trees. I have a lot of tiny acorns to rake up each year, and I do believe that this year might be a new record for number and weight. This is the third time, and I hope the last for this year, that I've raked up and bagged acorns for the garbage men. Last week I put out 2 bags of them that were so heavy I was afraid my garbage men might not take them. Today I put out 3 bags and hopefully each one is a tiny bit lighter than the ones I put out last week.
Our squirrels do a fine job picking up the acorns....maybe I could send a few to you, Bird

groan
forgot DST and now up way too early.
Looks like I'll be reading my book for awhile, hope to leave about 6:30am as light starts coming in. Weather looks better than expected but likely very windy ride. Going over Chesapeake Bay bridge in high winds is always fun. Slow and steady, kind of hope this is last 9 hour drive I have to make, going to try Amtrak next time

heading home is always good

First cup of hot coffee has been poured. 31° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 62° with a few clouds. Great fall weather day yesterday. Planted Lily Bulbs yesterday. Little late. May not bloom next year. But that OK. Went for a nice walk in back fields. No plans for today. Some NASCAR in afternoon.

Good Morning
27 and going to twice that today.

Yesterday was a beautiful day to be outside. We went to a good friends funeral in Newtown, and his burial at the Middletown Friends Meeting. He was a 76 and suffered a slow decline from dementia. He was a larger than life person that helped everyone that he met, and always gave someone else the credit for his good deeds. He will be missed by a lot of people.

Today I’m going to a celebration of the life of another friend that passed away last November. Another real character. One of the downsides of getting older is that you loose friends at a greater rate than when you were young. A good friend told me that at funerals there will usually be a mention of either “It’s a shame that he left us so early” or “He lead a full life”. And then he pointed out what would be said about us.

Popgadget, sorry about your loss. Guys like that are rare. 76 is too young.

Our squirrels do a fine job picking up the acorns....maybe I could send a few to you, Bird
Funny thing happened yesterday. I occasionally, but fairly seldom, see one or even two squirrels in the front yard. But yesterday while I was raking up acorns out front, I stopped to go get another bag out back and just dropped the big old leaf rake on the ground. I nearly always stand it up against something so I don't haver to bend over to pick it up later;) but this time I just dropped it. When I came back around front, I sat down on my rollator in the garage door for a brief rest, and a squirrel came from somewhere on the south side of the house, slowly looking around, and went to that leaf rake, got on it, on the tines, then sat up there. Made me wish I'd had a camera handy. But in a few seconds, that squirrel got off the rake and went on up the tree.

40 degrees here this morning, going for a sunny 74.
