67F and partly cloudy @ 12:00, heading up to a high of 74F.

Another cool-ish day in the offing ... but the sun seems a lot more prevalent today so it will likely feel warmer ... if it stays out.

Ten Day looks absolutely gorgeous until Wednesday when there is a chance of scattered thunderstorms.

Fairly low winds today, so getting spraying done will be high on agenda.

There is a little section of border (200' ?) along the driveway next to the woods that is around 3' wide, that I told The Woman last night I plan on spraying and planting with wildflowers. It will need to have the overhanging branches trimmed back so that they get decent sun, but that needs done anyways for vehicle clearance.

Also need to finish up mowing on west side. Lower front was looking like it was due to be mowed again yesterday ... but I probably won't get to it today.

Will probably put grapple back on to move some more downed timber and tear out a stump adjacent to the pad on the south side of the pole barn.

Also put the pallet forks on and move that pallet of retaining wall block around to the back of the pole barn and move the pallet with the 65 gallon tank on it so I can spray that area again.

Other than that, we'll see what else comes up.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Have to add this picture. Louie has claimed
The trash can in the kitchen as his throne. It is a treat lifting the life with a 25# cat sitting on it

Everyone stay safe out there
That's one stern look being given.

Looking good, Drew
says our master tile artist!
thanks
even using a padded kneeler, two hours on my knees was enough.

mowed the lawn, pulled last of straggly zinnias out of veggie garden and
nice to see the very first radish shoots coming up. They really germinate quickly.

now I'm pooped but landlady is coming over this afternoon to get some eggplants I grew for her, small
but should be good. Mine never grow like the huge ones in the store, though I always wonder if the insides on those big
ones are good.

Rest of the potatoes are dug. Another 1.5 buckets. My best crop ever, all kennebec this year, no reds.

69° sitting on porch cooling off, with the outdoor kitty wanting rubbed constantly.
My storage bins came, gotta figure out how and where to mount them.

I bought a 24 pack of 7x4x3 bins. This was cheapest color. Yellow is highest price.

Good potato harvest Buckeye.

Excellent grouting Drew.

Kyle, Kyle ,Kyle, looks like the gator got more attention than deserved and an insect threw you a loop. But good news for you that is hard to find comes from Israel. Your now natural immunity is 27 times higher than mine for not developing symptomatic COVID-19.
Israeli study: Natural immunity gives better protection than COVID shot

Whipper got finished with her test and results will be next week to see if she has Addison's disease. Time to take her for a walk on the trail.

60F and clear @ 21:30, heading down to a low of 53F overnight.

Neighbor stopped by wanting his saw chain sharpened first thing, so we did that ... after I finished taking my shower ...

He offered to come down tomorrow and help move some dirt in exchange. Told him he didn't need to as he'd loaned me his roller but he insisted. And I'm happy to have the extra help.

While I was waiting for him to reappear I slipped the pallet forks on and moved the 65 gallon tank on the pallet to another location so I could spray where it had been sitting.

Then I moved that pallet of retaining wall blocks out of the barn to the back.

Having completed that I put the grapple on and handled some more downed trees/logs once we got the saw chain sharpened.

After I finished that, put the sprayer on and sprayed north, south, and back side (east) of pole barn. Also sprayed east and west side of the frog pond and the east side of the house.

Discovered some wildflowers growing on the north side of the barn while I was spraying. First one was Lobelia siphilitica (aka great blue lobelia, aka blue cardinal flower):

The other one was Eupatorium perfoliatum (aka common boneset, aka boneset, aka agueweed, aka feverwort):

Both are perennials and favor moist/wet soil. Hummingbirds and butterflies like them apparently.

I avoided spraying them and will transplant them to another area which should be suitable, along with the hemlock.

The large seed order (on right) came in the mail today:

IMG_1321 copy.jpg

Hopefully will be able to get the area(s) where they're going prepped in the next week or so and get at least get the "All Perennial" mix sown. I have lots of screened (native) topsoil piled up behind the barn, and if I need more there's always the dirt pile - it just needs screened.

The "Late Bloomer" and "Partial Shade" mixes both contain annuals ... so they probably won't get sown until after the weather turns cold (after the first killing frost - so that they won't germinate until spring) Which is not an issue, as I still have a good bit of prep work to do for several of the areas.

Be interesting to see how the wildflower project turns out.

Got the go ahead on second part of other neighbor's project and it has actually expanded beyond what we had originally discussed. So will have to devote some time to that in the coming days.

Finished up the day by doing some more mowing on the west side of the house, almost done with that ... which is a good thing, because tomorrow the lower front will need to be mowed ... again ...

Hope everyone had a great Friday ... (y)
