66° right now...high in the low 80's today...

Very relaxing weekend...wifey and stepdaughter were pretty insistent that I take it easy over the weekend...basically, got nothing done. Better make up for that during the week!

Drinking second cup of coffee. 65° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 85° with clouds moving in afternoon with thunderstorms. Did not sleep well last night. Got chicken coop door primed on both sides. Then mowed grass. Going to put door inside coop until I have help to put it up. Not sure what I will get done today. Clean up mess in shop will take some time.

Roy, lots of good to be said about doing some conserve energy days.

Buckeye, my wife took care of paying bills and kept track of income. She used Quicken. I have moved all incoming outgoing money to one account. Not much needed beyond that anymore. Seems most of it is outgoing lately.

David, glad you got some mowing done.

Thomas, good shopping trip.

Wngsprd, hope you get bees under control.

Bird, cute puppy. It has been a tough job getting Sassy trained. But well worth the outcome.

Kyle, good you got your Mom out for her birthday.

Drew, great pictures from your walk.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

Yes there is...at 71, I'm still working full time and normally 45-50 hours per week...then the typical weekend chores.
A stand down day is good, now and then...

Great pic!

good morning all
71 going to high 80's today in clouds and a shower later tonight.
Probably another warm and humid day.

I believe there must be a manufacturing problem with my digital bathroom scale.
It's stuck on one number and won't go down.
Perhaps I should call customer service... :sneaky:

PT, then food shopping this morning, perhaps a trip out to look at some new shrubs.
Ron, get a good nap today.

I'm looking at a 2007 43 foot tag axle Monaco Dynasty tomorrow morning, has everything I want including
a washer and dryer and dishwasher. 75k mile, owned by local builder and realtor a mile from my home.
Price is reasonable compared to others which of course makes me wonder...400hp Cummins, 1200 torque.
Ready for Gale Banks engine kit.
Just couldn't resist looking at one literally down street, same road I'm on. I told seller I wasn't sure but would bring them
some tomatoes anyway. They liked that idea.

Am thinking positively, hoping I have another chapter of fun ahead, before back operations and worsening physical shape.
I still need someone to accompany me so I'll need to work on that. That could be LOTS more expensive... ;)

A moist 70 growing to 91.

Bird, I'm happy for you getting a new puppy. Joy.

Pruned some hedges yesterday, then went for a long hike...got about 10 seed ticks. At least the deerflies are less numerous and will soon be over.

The Carolina wren chicks on the porch are about to fledge. Saw one almost decide to jump/fly down yesterday, but turned around. The parents are non-stop feeding and then calling them out. Saw Big Mama blacksnake near the porch, so built an anti-blacksnake cardboard and duct tape wall...now just need a little barbed wire for the top. :)

I'm drinking the coffee I named roastus interuptus...it was the roast underway when the bee swarm came in, and I ran from the roaster for a few key minutes...it's still pretty good.

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 4:15AM. Sunny. High 99F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
The smoke cleared enough to venture outside yesterday afternoon. Still hazy, still enough to sting eyes and throat, though, but a lot better than it has been. Hoping for more of the same today.

I've been up since about 1:30AM listening to a mouse in the wood stove flue try to chew its way out. I thought about taking the baffles out of the stove to get to it for about a half second, and just lit a fire in it instead. That seemed to have quieted things down for an hour or so, but now the noise is back louder than ever and the A/C is on full blast trying to get rid of the heat. What next in this crazy place? o_O

I gave up on Quicken several years ago when it would no longer run on the latest version of MacOS. Intuit has always treated the Macintosh like a red headed step child, and enough was enough. Now I just quickly scan the monthly statements when they come in, and put tax related stuff in a folder as it accumulates. The few times I had to chase down a paper receipt still took a lot less time than entering data and balancing bank accounts every month.

Speaking of Chase, I'm still waiting for the replacement VISA card to show up that was promised for last Friday.

Looks like you surprised that doe, Ron.

Did you ever make that batch of spaghetti sauce with your fresh tomatoes, Drew? How was it?

Getting the core drill started on the stucco wall was a bit of a challenge yesterday, but eventually it quit dancing around and got the job done. Got the LB installed and the wire pulled through it, but lost steam when it came to hooking any of them up. Just too hot by that time. Fiddled and cleaned a little more in the garage, but still lots more to do. Job security.

Found a pretty good deal on a Lincoln pneumatic grease gun if anybody's looking for one. Been pretty happy with mine. But be warned: That site has enough interesting tools to potentially make your visit an expensive one.😄

Hope everyone's week gets off to an easy start.

Good morning! Starting out warm at 78˚F heading to the mid 90s - still a few degrees less than our seasonal high of 99˚F in August.

Our county's covid cases went from about 300 new cases a day to 200 Friday and I'm anxious to see the daily new cases this week. I'm still looking for this quick Delta rise to do as predicted and top out August 11th. Austin hospitals have 95 covid cases in the ICU and 4 of them are breakthrough cases. Not quite the 99.9% the news media is reporting.

Kyle, I here there is an outbreak in your county that started after the Methodist and VFD fundraisers events in the Northern part of the county. A lot of non-vaccinated are hitting the feed store for cow de-wormer to ward off covid.

Roy, remember to schedule another recuperation day on your second vaccination. The second jab hit me pretty hard - at least I know it was effective.

Wngsprd, like the name of that coffee.

Drew, you just keep bouncing back, you must have someone in mind to be your co-pilot if you are already starting to look at RVs.

RNG my book keeping is like yours, quick and easy.

The garden e-mailed again and want's me to do the impossible - compact more garden compost. It's seat time so I'll try but then I'm closing the dumpsters down till they bring us some more empty ones. Our menu tonight calls for fresh green beans and the first batch of my garden beans are ready to pick.

yes, made with a small amount of 90% lean ground beef, but 95% tomatoes, onions, peppers and garlic, thyme and oregano
No sugar at all, most folks would find it a little acidic for them
I froze a big portion for another day.

Don, better to keep bouncing back then not bouncing at all...
No, no one in mind, big hurdle needless to say.
Am also considering starting over with new tractor and implements to keep on local farm.
Can only do one or the other. And I have a friend who is getting a travel trailer next year to pull behind his Ridgeline, and I could borrow
that at some point, as I will hopefully have the same tow vehicle.
So I'm thinking the tractor may make more sense.
I had my spirit of wanderlust on my boat, for many years going many places. So that feeling is not as strong with an rv, particularly now in full retirement
where you have to watch what you spend even more carefully.
And I sure would like to plant those sunflowers again.

71F and sunny @ 08:00, DP 69, heading up to a high of 90 for the day. Calling for the possibility of thunderstorms Tuesday through Friday. Would be good - we could use the rain.

Neighbor cat stopped by for a visit this morning and that got Squeak excited ... which got Mister (the big orange cat) and Missy (his sister) excited. He was laying in bed next to me, heard Squeak, and went charging into the kitchen and pretty soon the screaming and howling started.

So I got up and made the coffee. Woman reports her approval ... (y)

Amazon order for the hidden hangers for the gutters is due in today, gutter covers on Thursday.

Probably fill hopper feeder first thing, then start working on raking any debris out of that depression in front of the center door on the barn and getting that filled in and compacted since it will be in shade.

Then more fill for the approaches on the creek crossing.

Maybe some further spraying later, once the dew burns off everything.

Of course, there's snot load of other stuff that needs done as well ... but probably won't get to it.

Woman has plans for day out with her Woman friends today I believe, so I'll be on my own.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)
