During the last major cicada cycle in Northern Virginia I was still employed as a senior scientist at Fort Belvoir, just south of Washington DC. They were THICK. I remember walking into work several times with several of them attached to my clothing.
Some of the female scientists were rather surprised because I had a tendency to pick the cicadas off my shirt and eat them.
Crunchy little things.
<snip> It'll be warm enough later that the deer will try to test it, so we'll see what happens. One of the security cams looks right at it, so I might have some video to share later...
As I've written several times before, around here my cousins solution for the electric fence/deer combo is (with the power off) run a thin coating of peanut butter over the fence wire. He just dips his fingers in PB and runs the wire between his fingers. Turn fence on, deer lick wire, deer learn quick.

The idea in the beginning was that RNG wouldn't be spending any time on the van; most of the work was supposed to be hired out. We know how well that worked out, and I wouldn't recommend it for tractors, either. In fact, the last trip the old tractor made to the Kubota dealer took nearly four months to finish. 🤬

Take comfort knowing our empathy.

75F and mostly cloudy @ 21:15, high hit 86.4 today. Radar actually shows rain currently, but not hitting the ground yet apparently.

Got 3' rake, tow-behind spreader, and 8 empty 5 gallon buckets picked up first.

Then got lower front mowed when I got back.

After that, started in with applying the gypsum - put down 13 bags (520 lbs) and almost got the entire lower front done. That's probably a third of what it needs, but it's a start.

Ground is pretty dry and it was a rough ride.

Took a break in late afternoon and ran out to get gas and pick up a slab of ribs from the rib folks who had their stand set up.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Got everything done today, including hanging 5 sheetrock panels on ceiling. Challenge was maneuvering 90” panels in 91” width. The lift, while not perfect was a big help.
Still need to SR the bedroom area, but that needs to be insulated first.
Dump run was crazy, 6 vehicles ahead of us.

Meanwhile, there are still 13 holes in the floor of the barn, but one of them seems to have been chewed a bit bigger. (Anyone remember that thread? I think I have updated pictures that I can post over there.)
!

I remember that one.

Great worship this morning with 2 families we haven’t seen in over 20 yrs. they invited us to their house for lunch afterwards and we got to talk old times. Their kids were young back then, now married and grandkids.
No masks in sight at their worship.
Just got back to in-laws house in VA at 12:30 AM, left TN at 2 pm CT.
