beautiful blue sky day, but still too cold out. Yesterday's work outside in cold seems to have rewarded me
with a very sore shoulder last night. But it was nice to get some planters filled with potting soil.
And I see petunias and pansies are in front of the supermarket now. Hmmmm.

I think my price of 75 bucks every three months is fair for trash service, but the downside is they comingle recycling.
In other words, they don't recycle because it costs them money now to take recycling versus they used to get paid for it.
So my nicely separated bottles and plastic are going right in the landfill with everything else. They blamed it on covid last Fall.
Time to get on their case again. It's just not the right thing to do. Maybe I need to find out where the closest transfer station is for recycling
and take my own recycling there. Or perhaps I need to call another trash company...see if a big brand name like Republic actually recycles their recycling.

Good morning
It’s 35 headed to the 60’s with clear skies and calm winds, basically a repeat of yesterday.

Yesterday with my mechanical contractor buddy went well. We drove over an hour each way to install a condenser and line set and wiring for an install that someone else didn’t complete. The exciting part of the experience came when I was pumping diesel fuel into his Sprinter while he was in the convenience store. I smelled gasoline and looked at my feet, which were now in a quickly growing lake of gas coming from the next row of pumps over. I instantly stopped pumping, put the nozzle back, hopped in the Sprinter and moved it a safe distance away.
Keep in mind, a couple of years ago I needed a walker just to get around. My buddy was just walking out of the store and saw the whole event. He said that my rehab is complete, that was fastest he has ever seen me move and hop into the 4wd Sprinter!

It was a wonderful spring day, so when I got home I pulled the Lazer Z out and started up and ran it up and down the drive, blowing sticks off of it. I put a new engine on it over the winter, and started it up then, but only briefly. This time I got check out all functions and make sure that it’s ready to mow.

Today I’m supposed to put the box scraper on the Kubota and spread 50 tons of stone for a neighbor, I’m looking forward to getting it out.
I’d also like to pick up some pork shoulders at BJ’s or Costco and smoke them to make a load of pulled pork. Cant wait to see what the day brings.

Make me happy my township came up a contract to have trash pickup one time a week. They will take anything put out a road. Except environmental hazard. It is a line item on our tax bills. About $180 a year.

I see that several people have mentioned what they pay for garbage collection. So . . . my city just contracts with Community Waste Disposal for weekly garbage collection and the cost of $10.92 plus tax of $.87 is listed on your monthly water bill, so everyone pays it whether they use it or not, so I reckon we just about all use it. CWD provides each home with a big container on wheels for recycling; most use it, some do not. And while they have some rules and regulations about how much, how heavy, etc. the guys on the trucks don't pay any attention to it; if 2 men can pick it up and get it into that truck, they take it; including mattresses, furniture, etc. For tree limbs and branches, they'll leave them unless tied in bundles of approximately 4 lengths.

Yesterday after working in the yard and garden, I lay down in the grass and looked up at the half moon in the bluebird sky...I told my wife I needed a new 3 point implement...a 3 point recliner chair I could enjoy for a nice rest. She said to ask you guys whether you've ever seen one?

Otherwise, I'll need to ask RS or RNG to weld up a 3 point frame, LS to make a furniture frame, and Randy to upholster it...and of course, Rick to market it with his Cha ching company.

Good Morning!!!! 47F @ 5;15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 67F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
No more rain in the 10-day.😢
Filled another couple of pallets yesterday, but had to break midway through to tarp everything over for a thunder storm. Turned out to be a false alarm because it dissipated before it got here. Sky sure was dark and threatening to the north, though.

Bruce asked about the van. Still no word from the rebuilder about the front differential; that'll be the next job to tackle on it. Much as I'd like to keep rolling on the firewood, I think once these next two pallets are filled, the garage is gonna get a good cleaning, then I need to get the transmission for the white bike back together and installed. Then I can get it off the lift and fix an oil leak on the red bike. And somewhere in there, get the paperwork for the building permit filed so I can start the terrace for the new water tank before it gets too dry to dig. And in parallel with that, while the grapple and backhoe are on the tractor, I'd love to clear a shooting lane off the edge of the driveway. So the van interior is pretty far down the list. And oh, by the way, the skylight on the darn thing is leaking again...🤬

Both the garbage companies here stopped recycling when Covid hit, Drew. I think they've lost money on it all along, and Covid was their excuse to stop the hemorrhaging. China is no longer buying our scrap metal, so the junk yard isn't paying for steel anymore, either. But they still charge fifty cents a pound for it. Good deal for them, huh? I pay about $20/month for curb side garbage pickup, with no provision for recycling or hazardous waste disposal. I need to recycle some motor oil and old electronics, so I'll hit the hazardous waste collection site maintained by the county to take care of that. Maybe take 'em some old tires, too. So far, at least, that's free. But last time I used it, they put the wrong cap back on one of my oil buckets, and now it leaks. They won't let you get out of your vehicle once you're on site, so it's difficult to keep an eye on what they're doing...

More splitting and probably some bucking today for me.

Hope everyone else enjoys the rest of their weekend... 👍

Then all you old men won't get to yell at kids, "KID, GIT OFF OF MY LAWN!!!!"

The hippo would take all your fun at being mean away. :)
This is not the Mr. Wilson's neighborhood, this is an age restrictive neighborhood. No juvenile delinquents live around here only an occasional grandkid visit. Only the deer get yelled at for eating the yard's landscape.
Our garbage pick up is once a week and every other week the recycle garbage can is also picked up. They supply us with two garbage cans different colors so the recyclables don't get mixed up with the landfill garbage. Also once a month a yard waste truck comes and picks up limbs, grass, leaves, which have to be bundled up or in paper bags because it all goes into compost. The total cost is $20 month added to the monthly utility bill.

Good morning! 47˚F heading to the 70s, cloudy.

RNG I agree with you. When we do not have a choice and cannot choose utility companys, we should hold the people responsible that make those decisions. If it was like the phone companies we could just switch carriers for bad or expensive service. The information found on the internet is not always correct, especially the part that all Texans have a choice of utility companies.
RNG resist the urge to get another container, just stop accumulating stuff. That reminds me I need to expand my attic floor area.

Went to Catoctin National park. Hiked up almost to wolf rock, wanted to go to chimney rock. Normally an easy hike. I’m sore this morning.
Boy!! Does that bring back old memories!!
Been there probably 40-50 years ago...
