David, and maybe others, may be interested an a new video posted by the Crosstalk Solutions guy. This one is on terminating Ethernet cables, and he demos a couple of tools that save time and ensure better results. The neatest one is the UnTwist tool, used to unwrap the wire pairs and then straighten the wires. That'll save a lot of sore fingers.

RNG, yup interesting video,so were the comments.
Interesting tool, but I liked suggestion to use the piece of sheathing.
The app tester was nice, but a bit pricey compated to mine.

I found if I remember to cut the cable about 1/2” longer than needed I can better keep the wire alignment. I don’t have the EZ connectors.

The sheathing might work for unwinding, but I've tried the screwdriver trick for straightening, and it's still hard in my fingers. Looking forward to trying the UnTwister.

I found wire breaks in some of my long runs using the Pockethernet tool. I was going crazy trying to figure out why the devices on the other end weren't working. Now I use it on every connector, and I'm still finding problems.

I'm going to have to up my game and get the sheath up into the connector before applying the crimp. What I've been doing is working so far, but it ain't right. I'm using the Unifi shielded male connectors, and they don't have the pass through feature, either. But I've had problems in the past with hardware store connectors that have the ends of the tubes open to each other, and some of the strands shorting between the wires. So I'm gonna snag a pair of those snips he recommends, as I don't think the diagonal cutters I've been using sever the wires very cleanly.

27°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 37° today ... which is where we are now.

Stopped at Menard's on the way home yesterday looking for a longer dowel rod for The Wife to use to roll up her quilting project wall, which is really just a large piece of flannel that she sticks her quilt blocks on for design layout. It would seem that no one sells dowel rod any longer than 36" or 48". Probably going to have to go a different route, like maybe thin-walled pvc pipe. I just don't want to buy 10' of it when I only need 64". It's becoming a quest now to find a solution.

Put about four miles on the stationary bike later in the evening.

I generally don't talk much about Fiats, Roy. I have a scar across my forehead, the left side of my nose partially caved in, a rebuilt chipped front tooth, and no curve in my neck anymore from slamming my face through the windshield of a '79 X-19. Tree 1, Fiat 0. (That tree ended up about 6" from the windshield, or what was left of it.) April 6, 1985 ... I remember that pain like it was yesterday. Excruciating. I don't recommend it.

Those are some seriously delicious looking pizzas, gents.

We haven't had any groundhog problems since we put a radio in the barn a couple years ago, wgnsprd. We keep it on a local AM talk radio station, KMOX. Apparently, they aggravate the groundhogs, too. :D

Would a piece of hand rail work?

Used to be able to buy wooden closet rod by the foot at HD and Lowes. Maybe they still sell it that way?

How was the pizza BEF?

Better than frozen pizza, but could use improvement. Of course we didn’t have the right cheese or enough cheese. The dough rose too much. Needed more sauce added.
