Acknowledging ronjhall and riptides comments. Hope I didn't miss anyone else.
Great to see USA is going to be quarrantining all international travellers at last. It is a great start.!!
Our contact tracing system also plays a major part in halting the spread.
Keep safe everyone. We want you here.

RS, anyone that is 65 and older should be looking to get the shots.

Ron,

No dispute on that from this quarter - did something I said make you think otherwise ?

I was given a 6 page document to read when I signed in Wednesday. The important item that I was asked for the 4th time. Was, have you ever had a bad reaction to a vaccination of any type. My answer was other than a sore spot for a day. NO. Today I cannot tell I had the shot.

Sounds good ...

We're both signed up with the county here ... and I'll be happy to take it - just as soon as it's available for my age group. At the rate they have been going, it doesn't look like that will be anytime real soon ... probably a month or so away, based on the rollout schedule. Phase 1b for Ohioans 65 and older does not start until Feb 8th, and then that's followed by others with certain health conditions starting on Feb 15th. And those are just starting dates - and assumes they'll have the vaccines available to do it.

So I'll be after that. In the meantime, will try to stay hunkered down as much as possible.

David, my Amazon orders have be coming in less than 2 days. Had a order that made in the morning arrive in late afternoon same day. This week. Sure makes a difference when they have a new distribution center 2 miles from my home.

Generally been pretty quick here - although it depends on where things are coming out of (my house slippers took a bit - probably a week or ten days)

Good news here is Amazon acquired the old Rolling Acres mall property (mall was razed) and put up a new DC there ... probably about 8 miles away, which is much closer than the one in Twinsburg/Macedonia (25 miles ?)

BTW - Nice dove pic ...

I wonder if I'm the only one trying to get everything done as early as possible; just in case I should fall victim to the virus, or some other problem, and I don't want to leave my wife and daughters with a mess of paperwork if I should be in the hospital or dead.

So I have our auto and homeowner's insurance paid up until the end of October.
I've paid our property taxes in full for this year.
And today, I got the last form needed, so I have now filed our income tax return.

I got my stimulus check today. I didn't think I was eligible. My cfo confiscated it right away so I didn't do anything crazy. Like what I ask you? Kind of nutty but I have never been one to send money back.

I think they had to abandon contact tracing in our county because it got overwhelmed.

Nope no dispute. Just stating what we all should hope for.
On the subject of slippers. I have been having problems with foot pain. Been wearing memory foam slippers. Turns out not enough support. Bought a pair of sketchers go walk shoes with white soles. Pain is gone. White soles are so I can tell which pair are supposed to be used for slippers in the house.

Since I live alone. It’s all my problem. The only thing that is not auto pay is 3 credit cards and taxes.
I have a document for my son to get access to those accounts. Son and his wife are Sassy’s God Parents. She is who I have to worry about. Neighbors check on me daily.

Yesterday was a good day.....got temporary shore power into the cargo trailer I am converting into a basic camper/toy hauler, have heat in there as well now. Was cleaning up inside the trailer and had to shed my coat. No more running a cord thru the door. Also seemingly have a final layout for the bathroom, managed to gain several inches of precious space.

A little heat is good.

Then FedEx showed up with box containing the repaired oil tank for a long suffering BSA M33 project that has been stalled too long. When I got the bike, the oil tank was resting on the trans., but appeared to be in good condition. Once cleaned, it had porosity and tiny hairline cracks in it. Couldn稚 find another tank, guy who welds sheet metal for me gave up on it. Finally tried a place in PA that restores antique fuel tanks. They fixed it, sealed it internally, and shipped it back for $101.00! Score!

Glad you got the tank back ... looking forward to pics as the restoration proceeds ...

I avoid this thread, and most any other threads when it gets political. Conservative Libertarian Anarchists should never, ever get involved in political discussions.....

Vaccines are still in short supply locally. Local health department is, IMO, doing a good job of communicating and prioritizing who gets a shot. There are still working thru the backlog of 80+. Local hospital (part of Cleveland Clinic) announced they were getting another shipment finally.

Yup ... ;)

Everyone stay safe out there!

Hope your recovery continues in a rapid, uninterrupted fashion ...

I can imagine that would be the case, but when it starts to get further under control they may find it worthwhile to re-introduce it.

I can see how that could be.

Good to know.

Think I've seen some ads recently for some kind of super whizz-bang Sketchers lately on the tele ... suggested those to The Woman, as she has foot pain issues as well.

On house shoes, I'd had several different pairs of cheap, ill-fitting slippers that The Woman picked up for me ... which, of course, I would not wear (honestly, I'd just prefer to go barefoot when I'm inside the house, but that is no longer possible apparently with no carpeting)

A year or two ago she was interrogating me on my house shoe preferences and I mentioned Minnetonka moccasins ... that resulted in her coming home with a pair of Minnetonka heel-less, slip-on slippers (aka "mules") ... which I didn't really care for because, well, they didn't have any heels to secure them on my feet.

But eventually I got used to them (even though they really didn't have much in the way of padding for the soles - but definitely walking around barefoot), and even developed a degree of fondness for them - to the point that I actually wore off all the material on the top of the soles where your foot sits. Of course, she couldn't stand that ... and has been bugging me to do something about it for probably last 6 months or more ...

So I finally broke down and bought these RockDove units:

IMG_0782 copy.jpg

Big part of the appeal was that they are washable (my feet sweat any time they are constrained in a shoe or slipper) and the sole contains some kind of foam and is probably 3/4" to 1" thick, plus rubber outer sole so they can be worn outside. Doesn't seem inclined to crush down thus far, but only time will tell how well they hold up. And they do keep my feet warm (I have poor circulation in my hands and feet)
