I heard a lady on NPR once talking about the cost of keeping stuff. In this case it was an elephant's foot that you put umbrellas in, that her aunt had gave her for Christmas one year. She lived in a NYC apartment, and this thing took up about 2 square foot of floor space. She did the math and came up with a cost of her keeping that thing. It was several hundred dollars a year she was paying on those 2 square foot that it was taking up. I'm sure your costs are lower, but there is a cost to keeping anything.

Very true. The three projectors came from cleaning out Sharon's Mom's house after she passed. We sent a 24' truck load of stuff to the auction barn, dumpstered a good bit, and hauled some home. I have no idea why I kept them. At that point, we were just trying to get it done, you know.

Most of the CDL weight laws apply to commercial hauling. Have you checked directly with your DMV? As a non commercial person hauling you own load you may see different limits. Like hauling a 5th wheel, race car, boat or horse trailer.
Precisely ...

even if I could tow over 10K, there aren't any trailers locally that are long enough.
The Case IH with mower attached is 22 feet long. The Kubota, kinda guessing here, at 26, maybe 28 feet long with FEL and mower.
Well, as has been pointed out by others, you can tow over 10K ... so, theoretically, that leaves the primary problem being trailer availability.

got a quote of $2K to haul both tractors and attached mowers to NC. Sounds about half of what the moving van people quoted.
$2K sounds like a nice down payment on trailer to me ... :D

Never know when such a thing might come in handy ...

But on the other hand you gotta figure your time and fuel as well as the equipment cost ... and there's absolutely nothing wrong with injecting some coin into the service end of the economy ... rather than the manufacturing end ... ;)

Suppose to be "nice" today. That's secret talk for not as hazy, hot and humid like it was yesterday. I have no plans today, or for the next few. Will just slouch for a while.

64*F & cloudy with a nice breeze.

I cleaned and split two chickens yesterday and put them in marinade. They are going on the swinging grill over a wood fire today is the plan. The yard needs mowing too after it dries out a bit from yesterday's rains.

Good morning, 59F here with clear skies, heading to 75F. Predicted rain for the yard sale this weekend, so I am glad I am setting up in the garage. Just hope people show up.

72 and light rain showers. Should only get to 79 today - nice for a change.

Glad to finally get some rain but it was not forecast, so I painted some outside yesterday afternoon. Fortunately only a series or steps 6' by 15' so I covered it with plastic before the first shower last night. I am very pleased so far with the paint - DeckOver by Behr - very thick acrylic resin with what they call ceramic microspheres. Looks and feels good - we'll see over time how it wears.

Drew,

How about looking for the longer trailer at the NC end (or along the route) and bringing it back with you?

Just a thought.

Raining now and since 9pm or so. Big boomers last night...

I need the rain. I finished the bush hogging yesterday when my plans for having my daughters evaporated in a crisis of the moment (rescheduled for tomorrow).

Anyway, I was losing traction and having to engage 4wd fairly often simply due to dry, dusty/sandy soil... Sure makes the place look god mowed and bush hogged...

Be well all,

David

Really nice day here. Had 1 cup of coffee, don't want to make another pot for #2. I am going to lunch with a couple of neighbor's. This lunch thing started with the Tuesday retiree thing, now has morphed into lunch with 2 neighbors, on different days. Apparently, there are more than a few retiree's with time on their hands....? Note: it's a all guy thing, so my wife isn't worried about me hanging out with strange women. Then I need to come home and go back to splitting wood, my neighbor loaned me his splitter, and I started yesterday. 4 hours of using the splitter left me a bit tired. Not really sore, but I do feel the results. Hopefully I will get enough to keep us warm this winter.

Have a good one.!!

Drew ...Have you thought about asking the JD dealer you just bought your JD tractor from there in NC how much he would charge you to pick up and deliver your tractors....? Ya never know...bet he's cheaper than PA folks and he knows you will continue to be his customer...Just a thought.

A friend did this on a move and saved himself some serious $$. The dealer now has a customer for life and everyone was happy.

It's always better to hang out with women you know; none of that Basic Instinct and stranger danger stuff.

Good Morning. 1130, mostly cloudy, 87F {heat index of 101} with 75% humidity. Forecast high of 88F with 50% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 73F tonight.

No time for the garden this morning. I slept in {0730} because of too much late night forum surfing. I have done my lifting and just finished breakfast. I'm going to walk over to Mamma's to move her sprinkler and take her a few veggies to add to her soup. We have had a few sprinkles this morning, but not enough not to water.

I have to go in to work early because I 'volunteered' to set up tables and chairs for Margie's poll workers training this afternoon:D

Hope everyone has a good day.
