No CDL. 9990 max weight allowed
truck will pull 17K on the ball and 28K on the gooseneck, but
with a plain jane license, everyone and their brother has told me the above.

I did just put a bid in on UShip. Very easy to do. Will report how it works.
Most of the CDL weight laws apply to commercial hauling. Have you checked directly with your DMV? As a non commercial person hauling you own load you may see different limits. Like hauling a 5th wheel, race car, boat or horse trailer.

Hazy, hot and humid. The Northern VA area is in summers grip. Good to be back home. Love the air. It is so --- different.

It worked pretty good for me when planning the move to Vermont...but we ended up putting everything on the moving van (big straight body truck).
However, my 4400 probably isn't as big as your Kubota.

Just make sure whoever moves your equipment is adequately insured and that you are the beneficiary.

Good morning all, 75F this morning with the high the today at 75F also. Did more setup for yard sale, and more garbage found.

70 going to 93. Actually feels pretty nice outside considering 98% humidity.

Drew, can't remember if you got multiple bids, but hope so...and split into bids for furniture vs tractors. I believe there can be a significant range in pricing, even among reputable movers.

Heading to lunch with a group of fellow employees today - unfortunately one was RIFed so it's mixed emotions.

Hot and humid today, 92 they say.
Drew, what kind of tractor do you have that's 26' long? As for hauling your own stuff, no CDL needed, I do it all the time, well, 3-4 times a year.

Warm & humid this morning, headed to around 90 with a line of t-storms passing through this afternoon.

In the "I'm not as perfect as I used to be" department, the problem with the Husky chainsaw is someone ??? put bar oil in the gas tank. Oops. I left it at the shop for a carb clean out and post-break in tune up.

Drew: I think the magic number for a CDL is 26K lbs of truck, or combination of truck and trailer, gross weight. As far as I know, you should be able to drive for personal use as long as you stay below that number. Maine for example, requires a commercial registration for trucks with a gross weight rating above 10K lbs., but that doesn't mean you need a CDL to drive it. Maybe something like that is introducing confusion.

I need to shuffle the garage around to get the table saw out where I can use it to make some minor trim woodwork. Probably a good day to do that.

even if I could tow over 10K, there aren't any trailers locally that are long enough.
The Case IH with mower attached is 22 feet long. The Kubota ,kinda guessing here, at 26, maybe 28 feet long with FEL and mower.

got a quote of $2K to haul both tractors and attached mowers to NC. Sounds about half of what the moving van people quoted.
Waiting for moving guys to requote just household goods. I think I'll have the tractors taken down commercially and I can load the implements on my trailer and make several trips.

Drew ...Have you thought about asking the JD dealer you just bought your JD tractor from there in NC how much he would charge you to pick up and deliver your tractors....? Ya never know...bet he's cheaper than PA folks and he knows you will continue to be his customer...Just a thought.

Good afternoon all. 68F this morning, cold front came through dry, forecast for 83F high and cloudy 20% chance of rain. Sure could use some. Met with home appraiser this morning, should get results in a day or 2. bike ride, car inspection and moving prep rest of the day.

it's amazing how many of us are moving right now. Usually folks want to get in before school starts, not sure that applies to all of us for sure.

before I get to cleaning again, headed over to the farm with my big electric blower and going to clean up the Kubota, which I put away covered in the field. Going to rain tonight and I don't want all that mess on the equipment. Usually I carry a portable blower with me but not last time. Heat index of 101. Lovely.
Heading back into that cool basement is going to feel mighty good.

Glad I'm not moving. :) You guys are all doing a great job though. Keep up the good work. :stirthepot:

It was 90* stinking hot today. I got some woodwork stuff done in the garage with the fan blowing on me.

When the t-storms passed through around 4:30 pm, we had four calls in Farmington within ten minutes. Only one did fire damage--in an apartment building--as far as I know. Another was a man down on Main St. who appeared to be not breathing. The Elementary school heat control room had an alarm, and the attic space above the pharmacy at Walmart had something going on. I think they were all lightening related. That was today's excitement.

Every cloud has a silver (or maybe satin?) lining.

I dunno, I think I have one more move ahead of me if I'm lucky, but I doubt I'll be needing 9/10 of the stuff I have for that one. My old Swiss Army knife with the foldout corkscrew should cover most of my tool needs. I try to stay on top of stuff and not let it accumulate. Could I interest anyone in a Carousel slide projector? I have two, plus an old 8mm projector. :D They are worth about $25 on eBay.

I heard a lady on NPR once talking about the cost of keeping stuff. In this case it was an elephant's foot that you put umbrellas in, that her aunt had gave her for Christmas one year. She lived in a NYC apartment, and this thing took up about 2 square foot of floor space. She did the math and came up with a cost of her keeping that thing. It was several hundred dollars a year she was paying on those 2 square foot that it was taking up. I'm sure your costs are lower, but there is a cost to keeping anything.
