Looks like the 2.1” is it, sun and clouds now, but still have strong gusty winds.
We needed the rain for sure.

When I was growing up in Camden County, NC, we had roasting ears by July 4 as a rule. Of course we planted in early April.

Here’s a picture of my uncle’s corn around 1958. That was in what is now Chesapeake, VA across the Dismal Swamp canal.

One of the benefits of wide row spacing and low plant density was much taller corn,
especially with good weed control which it looks like he had.
It is surprising how much sooner the planting season is as a person heads South.

Lot's of stuff goes in the ground here on / after St Patricks day. Whoops, that was SC, I'm now in VA.

Uncle Bill was around 5’7”, so he wasn’t a tall man, but that corn was a lot taller than him.

73°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 89° today. No pop-up storms here last night.

Company meeting was exactly what I suspected. Shop will be on four day weeks for awhile, just like management.

Slept in this morning. Didn't get out of bed until 07:45. Felt good. Guess I needed the sleep.

Went to the Lowe's in Belleville this morning to pick up the garage cabinets The Wife ordered last week. They had two there in stock, but had to wait until the third arrived. Box says they're 130 lbs each. They sure felt heavier than that loading them into the truck bed. Already getting warm outside by the time I got home around noon, so we'll assemble them maybe tomorrow morning. More/better organization for the garage.

I would be hesitant to accept, much less sign, anything in writing with which I didn't agree, Drew, regardless of all the winks and nods that it's "just the way they do things." I agree with others; walking away is a powerful negotiation tool. If they really want it, they'll stop playing games and complete the sale.

I guess government can be efficient. My state tax payments have cleared credit union already, just a day and a half since filing. Wonder why it takes so long other direction.
