Rick, did you post 2 pics in your post, all that's showing is a little box with a question mark?

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 6:30AM. Abundant sunshine. High 91F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tried posting this earlier, but the satellite wasn't awake yet.:confused3:

I'm glad the tool your friend made found its way back to you, Eric. You'll think of your fond memories of him every time you use it.

Those little vacuums wouldn't need to text if they didn't get stuck in the first place, Don.

The M62 had been through 2 regens so far, Mike. I was digging with the backhoe, working it pretty hard, when the first one hit, and hardly noticed it. Second time around I was doing shuttle work, and it didn't raise the RPMs by itself high enough to work. It was taking a long time, and even losing ground (there's a bar graph that reports the amount of particulate present). Had to manually bump the throttle up to almost 3000 RPM to get it to finish. And stay out of the dry grass, too.

Sorry about the snake, Kyle. I hope you can use a shovel to kill the next one instead.

Good luck with the grocery delivery, Drew. Hope the dreams are pleasant ones.

Since I started dousing my 3PT couplers in penetrating oil after I used them, they've been much more cooperative. Even the nasty push button ones that hurt my thumbs.

The Loctite 518 sealant will get used on the cylinder base to engine case joint on the air cooled BMWs, Rich. The other one, 5900, is for the warped lip on the oil pan for the van. The 518 was delivered yesterday; I'm not complaining, but I was hoping that the other one would be the first to arrive.:confused2:

That garden looks like it's nice and healthy, David. That's a pretty deluxe grab handle, too!

:welcome: to GM, K5lwq; hope you enjoy your bachelorhood and you stay healthy!

Even with the kittens, Thomas, sounds like a good day yesterday.

Sorry about the string trimmers, David. They need to make an atomic powered one; no gas to gum things up, and no battery to change, ever!

Gonna be the same colors on the old barn, Ron?

During Friday's blistering temps, I used 51 kWhrs, almost all of it for the A/C, and only 10 of it came from the solar panels. Most of the electricity from the panels during the morning wasn't used because the batteries recharged overnight from the grid. Yesterday the high was only 83F, the A/C stayed off, only used 14 kWhr, half of it from the panels. Need more of those 80F days, and a lot fewer of those 107F days!

Two acre wildfire not far south of here yesterday, quickly put out. Could of been real bad in the strong winds we had yesterday afternoon.

Wanted to load up the buggy with the big sprayer yesterday, but the wind was already picking up by the time I finished breakfast. Strapped on the backpack sprayer and gave the weeds around the house a nice drink; the ones up the driveway will have to wait until later in the week when things calm down. Same with untarping the firetruck to move it, but at least I'll have the magnets in hand to secure the tarp back in place instead of the ratchet straps.

The rest of the day was taken up with unpacking boxes out of the shipping container, five in all, finding places to put a whole jumble of things. The trash can seemed extra full and heavy when I put it out last night.

The repair on the UV filter held the rest of the afternoon, if it's still dry this morning I can put all the cans and bottles of cleaning supplies away under the sink this morning. Be nice to not be tripping over 'em while I'm makin' breakfast.

I'd like to start installation of the alarm system in the van today, but we'll see what the day brings.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a good start!

75°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 89° today. More rain expected this afternoon, and in fact through Wednesday. We could use it here.

Wifey had some dealer service done on her Niro Friday, and picked up an oil filter for my Rio from their parts department (as Kia decided to put canister filters on this year, and no one else carries this one). While out running around Saturday morning, I stopped to get my oil changed at the Valvoline IOC I have been going to for the past few years. Four quarts of their MaxLife 0W20 and changing my customer supplied filter came to $69.08. When I questioned the guy about it, he showed me that the price included the deduction for "customer supplied filter." I guess my shock motivated him to knock off $9. Still. Wow. Did some online research, as well as some browsing while at WallyWorld for other stuff, and found I can get the filter online for $6.95 and a case (12qts) of oil for $30, so my oil change would be $17-ish ... not $70. Told The Wife we should have been doing this anyway.

Most of the rain missed us Saturday. In fact, we only ever got a few sprinkles a couple of times. Was dark and cloudy and rumbly all day, but all the wet stuff just went around us.

We finally got some rain Sunday morning, and again on and off through the day. So, all the outside stuff we were going to do that we didn't do Saturday, didn't get done again yesterday. I did, however, finally order a new holster for my concealed carry revolver. Got the LightTuck Kydex IWB holster for my S&W 637-2 from Vedder. Thanks to Roy for the recommendation all those months ago. Ordered it in Storm Gray and with the Claw attachment. I've been using a DeSantis SofTuck for the last five years, and while I like how comfortable it is, the leather is starting to get slick inside and is losing retention. Time to give Kydex a try.
Wife picked up a new Browning carry purse from Academy last week, and seems to really like it so far. The one thing she doesn't like about most CC purses is that most of them look like a gun bag. They have heavy duty straps and swivels like an equipment bag, and usually have the access zippers on the sides that are a dead giveaway that it's a gun purse. This one has a normal-looking (reinforced) strap and the access zippers are on the back. It looks like a normal purse, and appears to be well-made.

Mostly_, you keep posting the updates on Cooke county, and for some reason it made me look today to see where that is. Not sure where you are in the county, but I have friend who is an organ builder who lives near Era.

Nice that your son is motivated to do things to earn the money he wants, Kyle. That's a valuable life lesson.

I have one of those pull-ring couplers on the PTO shaft on my King Kutter rotary cutter, Roy. I can see where I'm not going to like it much as I get older. It's already sometimes a PITA with 53-year-old hands.

That's a pretty solid-looking barn, Ron. Nice.

Welcome to the GM thread, K5lwq. Hope you get through your quarantine uninfected.

70°F and no rain last 24 hours. A pretty, sunny morning.

Need to start another round of mowing.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon. I think we are back up to 2 active cases on our island. 18 total deaths statewide.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

81F and partly cloudy @ 12:00, with a high of 86F predicted for the day. Winds out of the north at 5 to 10 miles per hour. 10 Day Forecast is showing temps in the mid to upper 80's for the period with one day @ 90F and no indication of rain.

Just suggested to The Woman she might want to temper her water usage accordingly. She was not happy and thought I was picking on her ... :confused3:

Did not get any wood cut yesterday for bird houses/feeders. Did get all the 1/4" crown staples removed from elevator end of the Deluxe Repeating Sparrow Trap and got the end removed out of the hardware cloth. The other end should go a lot quicker - less staples. Now just need to sand it and either paint it or treat it with boiled linseed oil. Leaning towards paint at this point. Also had the realization that it would probably make sense to move the bird food down into the basement ... since all the bird feeders are around back.

Northern Flicker was just spotted on the suet feeder ...

Also got some cardboard cut for the plastic container for the grease gun and got it put away. The container ended up being just the perfect size for it and it lays in there nicely.

Plans for the day are to swing by Eddies pick up some mealworms, vacuum out inside of van, trip to PO, get the Trac Vac fired up and see if I can find an operator to do some vacuuming ... I suspect that will be me though ...

Also have to make a run to Menards to pick up two orders that I placed before the sale ended.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day.

RNG,

I started using Loctite 518 20 years ago at work, it migrated home. Long story, we had a leak problem on a PTO/transmission joint no one seemed to be able to fix. Found 518 at the NAPA store and gave it a try. Fixed!

518 also seals threads, works as a thread locker, etc.IME, if I Loctite 518 won稚 seal it, it is a sieve or it is broken. Good stuff.

515 is pretty good too. Never tried 5900. Have to check it out.

another hot one today, 76 now heading back up to 91.
more strange dreams last night, wonder if one of the meds is doing it.
Woke up at 3am and forced myself back to sleep, little groggy now, so the beeping
of the coffee maker is welcome.

turns out that local Publix uses Instacart to deliver groceries to one's door, minimum 35 bucks for free delivery.
Think I'm going to try that, see how it works. Can't depend upon garden club ladies, hope for the best, plan for the likely.

David, grab handle good idea, don't want to lose balance stepping up plus something to pull on. Good safety item.
Stock one often not in best spot.

Costco uses Instacart. It worked for me, but you pay roughly 10% more.
