Yeah, I know the area...when we (parents and I, since I was a kid at the time) went west, it was normally Rt 40...not normally the secondary roads. I've been to Catoctin....there's a revolutionary war era furnace there...in the state park.
My father was superintendent at Patapsco State Park in the 1960's to early 70's.
Lot of history in MD...

When the British lost the war, bunch of people lost the land they had acquired. My land is from one of the earliest recorded properties in the county, tract 12.
Lots of those old furnaces in the area, between here and southern PA. I’ve seen pics of the mountain stripped bare of trees, from making charcoal.

64°F and .33 inches rain.

Off to town this morning. Sophie has her appointment with ophthalmologist from Oahu. Hopefully he has her new lens and we can move on to resolution. This is same Dr she started seeing in Jan.

Our stay at home is now safer at home, but not sure what that truly means. A few businesses have been green lighted.

Will make a couple grocery stops while in town.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good afternoon. 46 now and raining. Supposed to be record lows tonight.

Rick, condolences.

Yes Kyle....the dealer works all angles. Many do. I hear end user horror stories using dealers and I am on the other end. Dealers work it. Most have to to survive. My real irritation with the whole situation was my boss (who is 鍍aking early retirement? in about a month, assumed yet again, one of his people was wrong. Hopefully he won稚 miss me at his retirement party......

And since there is no racing to speak of.....here?s one of the guy I help....just to make you miss racing more

I think our NWS forecasters are running around in circles trying to decide what to forecast. Yesterday, we had a forecast of 100% chance of rain last night, but before nightfall, it was lowered to a 70% chance, but included a chance of "severe" weather and high winds (we did have up to 40 mph wind gusts most of yesterday). Last night, I awoke right at midnight and noticed it seemed rather light outside, so I walked out on the back deck, in my bare feet of course, and found I was stepping in water on the deck. However it was not raining at that time, clear sky, and a huge moon up there. So, back to bed until after 5:30 a.m. Only .27" of rain in the gauge, but overcast skies, and the NWS showed 64 degrees going for a high of 66, but now they've raised the forecast to a high of 71. And skies are clearing. Looks like another beautiful day.

Late night, late morning.

42F @ 13:00 with a mix of rain and snow. Wind howling. Calling for a hard freeze overnight tonight.

Got two bluebird houses put out on the poles yesterday:

Also got oil and filter changed in the Kubota and tractor refueled. Mounted can crusher on garage wall while I was out there.

Did a load of laundry and some organizing of the laundry room and kitchen. More to do on both today.

Fourth bluebird house is ready for paint, but doesn't look like there will be any painting opportunities (temp-wise) until next Wednesday.

Got old light fixture in entryway taken down, need to get new fixture put up today.

Called The Depot yesterday and complained that after two days, they still did not have my small order (light bulbs) ready for pickup ... despite showing plenty of inventory and the website advertising "Pickup Today !"

Guy I spoke said that he'd have it ready today and sure enough I got a confirmation shortly afterwards saying that it was ready for pickup.

This is twice now that this sort of thing has happened ... the first time involved additional stupidity, wherein the home office arbitrarily decided that spray paint wasn't an "essential item" - therefore you couldn't order it online for curbside pickup.

But if you went to the store and went in, they would sell it to you ... thereby decreasing physical distancing and increasing exposure risk to the virus. :confused2:

Drew, good to hear from you - hope the health issues resolve quickly.

Rick, condolences for the loss of your close friend.

Hope everyone has a productive and safe day.

That's interesting. I'd never even thought about that kind of weather reporting, but it's logical.

I learned something new as well. I did not realize just how involved commercial air traffic was in collecting/reporting observed weather data.

On the C-19 front- A face mask is now required at our town's transfer station.

Thanks guys.I was thinking at the start of this project that I would go with a chrome 6" stack, but after some serious measuring, found that the 6"er wouldn't fit between the loader lift arm and where it needed to be. So I cut it back to three inches. That gives me 1" of clearance.

How do you like the canvas shelter more so in cold weather?

The only things I can say about them (I've got three of 'em), is the price was right at about a grand each. I couldn't build a garage big enough for all the rolling stock I have for $3,000.oo. Yet all my rolling stock is under the shelters when winter comes. Even the backhoe.
