Good morning!!!!

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 50° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 74° with mostly cloudy skies. Did not get much done yesterday. Enjoyed the weather and visit with Aunt. I did get Drone out and practice using controls over garden pond. Winds were about 10 mph. Need to get drone higher. But there are cable and power lines over pond. No crashes yet. Back to taking care of place. Cut lawn, maintain pond and clean windows today.
Mr and Mrs Cardinal spend a lot of time a feeders.

PJ, I gave up with lifting and pouring fuel from cans a few years ago. Bought a 35 gallon fuel tank with pump on it. Use it to take fuel out of cans. Then pump it into tractor or mower as needed. I see the price has gone from just under $200 to over $300.

RNG, I get rocks when I dig trenches. None as big as yours. They all have round corners.

Will catch up later.

Good Morning All.

You hit nail on the head "her" new tractor. ;)
Honestly there not pickup truck being offer today I am interested in,but there one pickup heard coming up for sale I have my eye on...Dodge D100 3 speed on the column slant 6 engine little over 49.000 miles short bed.

I share your lack of enthusiasm for the current crop of trucks, Thomas.

But will she let you have your Dodge if it doesn't have cruise control, adjustable steering wheel, and arm rests?:confused3::laughing:

Good morning! 69˚F heading to the high 80s partly cloudy, humidity 51%, not a good day for virus survival.

The hospitals are open again they just have to leave 15% of the rooms available for virus patients but my neighbor still is not allowed in to see his wife. They have been doin scans and biopsies trying to diagnose her. Some business opened up yesterday under the new 25% occupancy rules but most were still closed yesterday as we drove around. About half the people wear mask where they are not required.

The gardens emailed that they need my tractor driving expertise next week to distribute Mulch - Yea!

Got my chainsaw parts in and the muffler is back on ready for park service next week. After today we start hitting the 90s so I have to be very careful about dehydration, I can't rely on just a thirsty feeling anymore.

Ron, I see you are getting more confidence in flying and actually flying over water now.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 5:00AM. Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 77F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

I think it was Ian of London, a YouTuber drone guru, that pointed out it's much safer to fly higher, as there are fewer things to hit and more time to react before it hits the ground. He's right, but it's also much more difficult to keep track of the orientation of the drone because it's so small and higher up makes it farther away.

Now you've got me thinking about that fuel transfer gizmo, Ron.

I was up at 3AM refueling the generator. Had just enough left in 5 and 2 1/2 gallon NoSpills to fill it up without having to go to storage trailer in the dark. My day is off to a great start!

Butte County has been holding at 16 CoVid-19 cases for several weeks, and now word comes that they've all recovered with no deaths. Yesterday at the smog station only one employee was wearing a mask, and almost nobody at Costco or the Winco big box grocery. And several had no issues not keeping their 6' "social distance" from me. Next time it's N100 spray mask, old army coat, and camo boonie hat. Maybe I can scare 'em away?

Getting faster with the bleach wipes to decontaminate everything once home, then parcel it up and wrap it for freezing. Mostly pork and chicken this trip, but did find a couple of nice looking roasts, and two others that will be jerky someday. Hit the daily double when the grocery store had Dawn dishwashing soap, and got two of the big bottles. That'll probably hold me over for another year.

Didn't get much digging done, but what I did do was find where the conduit starts rising, and broke it. Also damaged the wires within, and that popped the main breaker. Now there's nothing displayed on the "smart" electric meter, so something happened on the PG&E utility side, too. If the electricity is still out when it gets light, I'll have to call them to come look at it, and you-know-who they'll try to point the finger at.

What surprises me is how easy it was to just wheel the generator out again and hook it up; I never did get around to emptying the fuel tank from last fall. Started right up and has been purring along ever since. Normally I'd turn it off at night, but the freezer was full of the day's earlier meat purchases and I want to give it a good solid freeze before turning off the juice again. Which I'll do when I start digging again, though I'll be a lot less nervous about breaking the conduit again since it needs to be replaced anyway. I suppose it was inevitable, seeing as how it's pretty difficult to see down into the trench and guess where the conduit is going to go next. The top of the trench is a couple feet over my head now...

Called the solar contractor to let him know what happened, and he didn't seem bothered at all, he even a bit sympathetic. Seems he's had many similar backhoe experiences himself. If anything, this little misstep may actually speed up the rest of the install, as both the pump house and garage are ready for wiring, and if I can get the generator moved down to the pad this weekend, they can wire that as well as run the wire out to the solar panel grid. That would leave only building the panel rack, installing the panels, and connecting the wires, work I'd intended to do myself anyway, just not in quite the same sequence. Anyway, he and I will be doing a walk through early in the new week and see how it goes from there.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

53 heading to 73 today. Nice to see the sun.

Mostly, Eric, yeah...don't no return protocols on first responders down where she is. She should be in day 3,4 or 5 now of isolation. I'll check up later in the day. I know she probably needs to decompress and relax.

We are hoping to see the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds fly over today before noon. The are supposed to be north of us, and we have a pretty good northerly view.

Not much on the agenda, needs to stock up on some food and beer today.

Hope all have a good weekend. Be safe.

Those are cool, but don’t expect to go over 55 in a headwind. I had a short van with slant 6 and 4 speed overdrive, forget using high gear in the wind or uphill. I still loved it.

NoSpill makes a flexible plastic (vinyl?) spout extension that lets you fill the truck with those cans. I seem to remember that they are kind of expensive for what they are. You could probably use a short piece of vinyl tube.

Chris

Thanks, Chris! I'll rummage around out in the garage and see what I can come up with. Definitely one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments.:duh::laughing:

And :welcome: to the GMT!

43 earlier when out feeding the birds. Should see 74 soon with this bright sun.

We've been watching Choco the chipmunk bringing her two babies out for the first time...so much smaller than mama. They are a riot of fun, running around and climbing the nandina.
Also had a flock of cedar waxwings, and yesterday got our first female hummingbird of the year. Then saw a red fox cross the field carrying a vole over to its den in the woods on the north side. Its been an interesting morning.

Thomas, Boo has grown up quite large! They grow fast when they carry off 40 lb bags of sunflower seeds to munch on. If you get more serious about a new truck, you have lots of help here to do the shopping. :)

Rip, hope your daughter has a mild case.

Ron, liked your aerial view of the pond. On my first drone flight, I took it to the max of 400 feet and could see silos many miles away, but some of the lower level flights and videos are more fun.

Looking over my to-do list - only scratched off two items yesterday...sharpened my chainsaw real well, and cleaned my coffee roaster and Chemex...both good jobs for a wet day. But guess I better get back outside and get to work/play.
