Glad you got it sold Roy, that empty space won't stay empty long I'm sure.

Knew the golf cart was low on water and yes it was, a whole half gallon of distilled water low.
Cleaned up one nasty post, washed everything away carefully and then blew dry.
And then moved cart and washed down driveway thoroughly.
By then the rain had picked up and it was time to come in. Gentle rain out.

little worried about my sister, am sure she is out of power again with no generator, last time she went to friend's apt.
in SF and this time that option might not have power either.
What a ridiculous way to run a railroad...

RNG, where are you? Heading East to the Land of Plentiful Power? ;)

Picked last of birdhouse gourds. Will be better winter for local birds.

Good morning to all! Low of 42, going up to 65 today. A cold front comes across tonight, bringing another chance of snow and dropping tomorrow's high to only 38....brrrrr....

Started 'supervising' a project that my son started...more like do this then that....wait, you have to do it this way....
He is building his garage. I did get some tractor time in leveling the site. It was nice for a change to just sit up on the tractor and point to what needs done instead of doing it myself.

Today, I will have to change out a shut-off valve in the new cottage. It won't turn fully off, allowing a constant drip, drip, drip, from the outdoor hose bib. Not a good thing. Shouldn't be a big job, but a pain working in tight quarters under a sink cabinet. Then some more 'supervising' for my son. He needs to get it done before winter weather sets in.

Everyone have a great day! Prayers sent.

A rainy 40ºF for today’s low temperature; a rainy 44ªF presently and I anticipate a rainy afternoon high ~50ºF. It looks to be an indoor activity type of day; probably a lot of PM nap time in the easy chair. It’s the time of year that I restart feeding the birds. I was able to purchase 100#’s of bird seed for $34 on Friday with all the coupons that I have accumulated. Yesterday was a double dump run. Once/year there is a regional hazardous waste collection. It was worth the one way hour’s drive to get rid of some all the stuff that I/We have accumulated.

“David, I'm just impressed by what you know. It sounds like you got your EE home schooled.”- Drew. I agree Thanks for sharing your RV pictures. I probably would have a brand new scratched RV if in a similar situation.

David- I am sorry to read about your ongoing Tundra challenges and now the rider mower.

“….. and her hippy hay as she calls it”- Thomas. I never heard/saw the term “hippy hay” before. There is a lot of hippy hay grown around here;)

“… a mattock laying on the ground. That is one of my favourite tools, yet I very rarely see anyone else using one.”- Eric My field mattock is well used;)

I appreciate all the posted pictures.

I hope that everyone is having a decent Sunday and those mending and healing continue to do so.

My + thoughts and prayers.

Eric, Yes, finally yesterday on my bathroom door frame. I went back and forth on my purchase between the 16 Gage finish nailer and 18 Gage Brad nailer. I needed longer nails, to reach through the trim, into the framing. I got the 16 gage. It really drives home the 1.5" 37mm length nails I purchased.

I've been busy, need to catch up online here. Prayers for those in need. Farmer, I hope your boys are better.

Sodamo, sorry for your truck troubles. I wonder how a person can determine if any product they need, has vegetable plant based insulated wiring?

My sister's son and family, who did not enjoy their Redding fire experience, and moved much further South, must think the fires are chasing them.
Santa Rosa isn't much further South than that.

Santa Rosa was hit very hard in 2017, by the Tubes fire that burned an entire neighborhood called Coffey Park. It was the dawning of a revelation that city dwellers are just as vulnerable as their country cousins to the ravages of wildfire. Right now, the Kincade Fire has burned well over 30,000 acres, and US101 is closed on the north side of Santa Rosa. Evacuation orders have been issued for parts of Santa Rosa. I received word late last night that a good friend of mine is also under mandatory evacuation orders in a little town of Forestville, but he's "laying low" (not evacuating). I hope to hear from him soon, as the winds were very high overnight and blowing in his direction.

I emailed my sister to see if she was out of power, not yet, smoke there yet? not yet...
Told her to demand her vacillating husband buy a Honda inverter gen until they get a whole house one put in, if ever.
They seem to be the quietest units out there, though at least twice as expensive as most others.
My sister and husband are academics/artists and are challenged to use an adjustable wrench correctly so they sure need an idiot proof unit.

Glad to hear your sister is OK, Drew. I'm very happy with the EU6500i Honda that is at this moment powering the house well enough to write this post. The current version of that generator, the EU7000i, is widely available, but probably sold out in Northern California. Blackout #5 started here last night around 6, with no estimate of when power will return. This time, over 900,000 people will be effected.

heading downtown early tomorrow to local Napa and see if they will make me a custom 30amp rv cable,
65 feet long, minimum 10 gauge, preferably 8 gauge.

FWIW, Drew, I use a 25' 8 gauge cable to connect the generator to the house. Not absolutely sure it's the problem, but I can't run my MIG welder when connected with that cable, but when I plug the welder directly into the generator it runs fine. Sixty-five feet is a long run, and I think I'd get the heaviest wire available.

Any of you guys know how to figure wire size for various currents and voltages? I've tried googling for it, with no results that I could understand...

Good Morning. It was 45° this morning but ... has quickly warmed to 66°. The high is forecast to get to 82° this afternoon.

We ran hog fence around the perimeter of the ranch when we bought this place in 2006 so, the only “unprotected” area is between our front fence and the road. Last Wednesday night .... the hogs came to call.

One of my neighbors brought over a spare hog trap ... to see if we can catch some of the culprits.

IMG_0942.JPG

Checked the trap this morning and no joy.

I took the cutter and grapple off of the 55 HP tractor last evening and put the bucket and the disc harrow on so, I can get started fixing all the hog damage today.

Hope everyone has a great day today.

Prayers to all.
