Don, I'd suggest you always yield to something much bigger than you, like a semi....
oh what an interesting day. Left a half hour early and got here right at 1pm like I thought.
But not without incident.
I pull out in the dark and the nav system is stuck on "finding satellites". and it never ever did, turkey conked out on me the whole trip, still doesn't work.
My phone is a tiny apple and can't see the mapping at all. thank goodness I had been a little ocd about directions and had a complete set printed out for me.
Missed a few exits but got here.
so...pulling out of home and 1/4 mile down the road slammed on brakes to avoid a deer, maybe by 2 feet. Literally.
Then another half an mile down the road I almost had a heart attack.
I had never put away the shore power cord and pulled it out of the house and dragged it down the road a mile.
I sure felt like King Chump with that bone head maneuver. Now I knew the house side almost fell out, due to a surge protector I had on it.
so I jump out with heart pounding like mad, thinking that cord is toast. Nope.
more than a little scuffed up, but pins were mostly straight and when I plugged it in here the blue led lit up.
Oh happy days. Did not want to hunt one down plus concerned that receptacle on rv was messed up. Everything worked.
I felt about two inches tall after that maneuver...
got out to get fuel and wind blowing so hard slammed the door back on me, that didn't feel good. Turns out the water over the Pamlico River was the worst, I saw five footers in the River, that's big. But surprisingly when I got to the Chesapeake, no warning signs and smooth sailing. Stopped at scenic lookout and took a pic.
got everything hooked up and instant on hot water inop. Went through it all, finally wiggled a knob back and forth several times and light went on.
And hot water showed up. Yeah.
averaged 14mpg for the day, not bad in this wind. Now waiting for friends who will take me back to their home for a nice seafood dinner.
Campground is pretty deserted, kinda out in the middle by myself. Place shuts down in two weeks, so my timing was good.
