I think its actually near or the same output torque each direction. -- It will loosen a bolt freshly tightened to 1200. ... Its easier to go down the thread helix. I wonder what would happen if they used a left handed bolt. ... Same thing maybe. Ill check the down helix difference and post back.OK, so here is a video by the same people using and testing, showing the true testing of a Milwaukee 3/4" impact that is rated the same as the Dewalt 1/2". It is interesting when you look at the force needed to apply the torque to test and they do not get to the full 1,200 ft pounds when they hand tighten it.
