I'd like one too if it can truly remove 1200 lb/ft. Keep us posted if you get one and you like it.

I have a Milwaukee 18v impact and it does do better than my older Craftsman 110v electric (DeWalt I think). The Milwaukee is rated for 450 ft/lbs. But it doesn't have the power that my Aircat impact has. Even my Aircat doesn't always break bolts free. For larger bolts I have to break out my 1" IR impact gun or a cheater bar. I think a lot of the specs given for impact guns are not real world numbers.

We use the Snap-on cordless impacts in our shop. They have almost eliminated the air impacts unless we need to pull out the 3/4" drive.
I had the 18v DeWalt and traded it on the Snap-on 14.4 3/8" which had much more power!
If you want something that you can really use and get the same power throughout the battery charge, you will have to spend the extra bucks!
(P.S. No personal experience, but I know someone who has the Ingersoll and really likes that as well.)

I think its actually near or the same output torque each direction. -- It will loosen a bolt freshly tightened to 1200. ... Its easier to go down the thread helix. The claim details probably specify a coarse thread for maximum effect.

I've read good reports on Milwaukee's Li ion battery tools. You might want to check into them before deciding. Hard to imagine a battery tool equaling air power, though.

If youre going to go with a cordless impact, have a look at the IR W7150. It has a great reputation and 780ftlbs max torque.

Beware of ratings like "nut busting torque", they tend to not be real world numbers, but lab numbers for marketing purposes.

OK, so here is a video by the same people using and testing, showing the true testing of a Milwaukee 3/4" impact that is rated the same as the Dewalt 1/2". It is interesting when you look at the force needed to apply the torque to test and they do not get to the full 1,200 ft pounds when they hand tighten it.

The big ones are nice, powerful and heavy.

And they work pretty darn good :D

Did I say heavy! :confused2:

But having just one just doesn't realy cut it if you want to use them often for most general assembly jobs. Control is much more important. I have some single speed Milwaukee impacts wrenches (and drivers) the price is definitely right and they work unbelievably great but I have easily stripped out enough stuff to want the models offering different torque and speeds. You cant go wrong with any of the FUEL models and if you already have some of that color's tools and batteries already...well that is half the battle. Bare tools are pretty reasonable to add IMO. I want a 2464 next. Always nice not use adapters and reducers too!

Buy the platform you need...if you already have a li-on dewalt add to that.

I'm happy with all mine :)

I wonder what would happen if they used a left handed bolt. ... Same thing maybe. Ill check the down helix difference and post back.

G'day I was in the market for a new cordless drill last xmas so after a bit of looking around I bought a milwaukee drill and 1/2" impact combo (18vLi brushless) and it is great, I thought it would be handy for jobs is the field but it gets used near every day in the workshop as well, my boss was so impressed he went out and bought one himself. Oh and our work is all farm equip
