Tractor
BX 22
I finally finished my stump/tree removal project. It almost had me stumped! But Kobota(BX-22) came thru with flying colors.
The little tractor that can do.So Guys please don't knock the small tractor. Some times bigger is not better. The BX-22 drove right into the 20 yard dumpster.
Enjoy the pictures.

Ditto that Gugy. How many were there, & how long did it take you?

Tdog,
Over a period of time, I will say it took about a week.
8 oak trees the biggest meassured about 23" at the stump
The smallest about 6' all were about 35/40 feet tall. The big one took two days to remove. All were removed with the BX and a 3 ton lever chain fall.

Thats impressive! Good work on getting those out. I have done it on occasion but everytime, while I am doing it, I keep thinking the a D-6 or explosive would be faster and more fun.

Good job.

I wonder if I know that by another name. Any chance of a picture of that in action?

Hello Gary,
It might be called a racheting chain fall.I really don't know the proper name for it.I'm posting two pictures of it in action. They are not the best pictures but that's all I have, look close and you can make it out.

When I was working in the oilfields in West Texas about a hundred years ago we called them 'coffin hoists'.

Northern Tools calls it a 'Lever Chain Hoist'.

Bill,
It's funny you said that. (Coffin Hoist)
An old timer was watching me work and he called it the same thing.

Around here we call it a "come-along"

Impessive job and tractor. Were you able to sell the oak logs or use for firewood? A good oak log in this area may go for several hundred dollars. Some of the best firewood also. Final comment - would your hand operated device be the same as we refer to as a "Hand Winch" or do you know if that's something different. My L3130 is a nice machine for in the woods, but a little too big around buildings and on narrow trails. Would be nice to also have one like you have - mama would never go for that.

"Coffin Hoist" that's what the old timers called it when I was a young power lineman. I always wondered why they called it that until we got some new ones in, and the brand name on the box was the Coffing Hoist Company.
Now you know the rest of the story.

No Penokee it's not the same as a hand winch. The logs are going to be firewood for my daughter.
I bought the BX-22 because I have small parcels of land.At my down state house I can drive the tractor through some gates to get to the rear of the house. Also it's easier to trailer from one location to the other.
