well im gonna put two new front fenders and two new rear fenders and a new ignition switch and i'm asking atleast 5k . with everything on it the dealer said i should ask for atleast 5k if i put it out for sale the same one who said it was only worth 3500.00.lol

How much are the 4 fenders? I would just keep it at $5k as if anyone prices new UTV's $5k seems reasonable. I wish I had $3500 as I would give that to you for it without the fenders:)

My NH dealer put the screws to me on a repair and since I don't have $13k to pay the bill (was suppose to be $5k) I asked about trading it in on a new tractor. They knew there was a screw up with the bill but won't drop the price so I figure talk a trade on a new one and they will give me a good price. I also owe $7k on my tractor still. Anyway, the price me a new tractor at $41k and offer me $13k for trade on my tractor. So basically, I am stuck paying off my tractor still and they keep the tractor against the bill. Sounds fair:rolleyes:

Aftermarket upgrades/additions do not help the price.
In fact, they bring the actual value down.
Reason being is that normal failures can't be diagnosed by normal standards.

Sale it and buy what you want.

John Deere had nothing to do with the way you were treated or not treated.

Good luck~!

I can get you a new XUV with hydraulic dump for $9200.
Without dump for $8700.

Rangers rock and they are all wheel drive. (I don't care for the bench seat)
40 horses and 50mph topend..
Dealers don't seem to come off the msrp on these much.. :(

Tommy,

I really think the aftermarket components, although they appeal to a large majority of UTVers probably hurt your resale. I can tell you that the HPX Gator is depreciating faster due to the XUV being out. My dealer has new HPX Gators that he cannot move, but he sells huge numbers of XUV's. The role of the HPX now is as a "pricepoint" UTV; one with good reliability and one for folks who do not wish to pay extra money for the XUV (or municipalities who do not have a use for extra suspension travel). This is not an indictment of the HPX, or your HPX, it is just where JD has moved with this machine. The reality is that with the lower price, aggressive financing plans, etc., your machine has been devalued. Prior to the XUV, I suspect you would have been offered double what your current offer is. I suspect your best bet would be to sell your machine on line, such as EBAY. I sold my last HPX there, and got a nice price for it. There simply is no substitute for getting your machine in front of the masses, where the hard work you have done on it can be fully appreciated by a potential buyer. I also would hate to see you leave JD. I think the XUV is a great machine, on a par with anything out there. There are other good ones out there, but not many with as many strong points across the model line.

Tommy,
Did you give the Goldman company a call, they have some down in south Louisiana ?

Two Guns,

Yes, the 700XP Ranger has 40 hp. It will approach 50 mph in top speed. The standard Ranger 500 has 30 hp and will go slightly over 40 mph. My diesel Gator has 25 hp (diesel, though) and will run about 35-36 mph but it has larger tires than stock. The XUV 620i has 23 horsepower. It weighes 1400+ pounds v. the Ranger at 1150 or so. I know JD is not into the speed thing that much, but it would really be nice if they at least dropped in a 29 or 30 hp Kawasaki in the gas model to go "head to head" with the Ranger. Now that would be a machine (and then some).

IMHO Rangers are very good machines. (dealers think so too)
I would love to have one but NOT for $2 grand more than an xuv.
The 700xp is the one to have the 800 Razor Ranger is still suffering from growing pains..
Another good feature is the 500 watt alternator of the Ranger compared to a 300 watt on the XUV.

It doesn't matter much what brand you have come trade in time when buying new.
It's the poor suckers like us that take the hit,
it's the depreciation from new that drives the whole 2nd hand trade.
However if you hold out for a private sale,
you may get that customer that appreciates the machine you have,
and is pepared to pay the correct value for it,
considering the time and effort it will save them
when it come to quality extras you have fitted.
The HPX is great, I had one for 2 weeks on loan from local JD dealer
and the grip is phenomenal.
I tried it on serious gradients that would have turned many a man to religion :)
It took them in it's stride, in the wet, on AT489's.
I went for the XUV because I really need that extra few inches of clearance.
Good luck Tommy in any event,
hope it works out.
