man i thought john deere was good but they realy don it this time.about 4 maybe 5 months ago they made me an offer of 4k for my hpx but they told me i had to take everything off winch /racks/lights/stereo. well they came and looked at it and said they wanted me to leave everything on it and that they would call me in a few days with a trade in estimate they called me today wich is the next day and said 3500.00 for the hpx with everything on it.i laughed at the guy and told him noway. i'm gonna sell it on my own and switch brands why because they have a xuv on thier lot and it has 50hours on it with a power dump bed and they want to cut me a deal for 10,500. if they wanna stick it to thier customers like that then i don't need them. the other dealer in houma wants even more for a undriven xuv. deere just lost a customeras soon as the hpx is sold i'm gonna switch.i can't see my hpx dropping 1k in value in 4 or 5 months if it did then i don't wanna own a product that drops in value that fast.i forgot to mention that when i told him i just as soon put it out to the road to sell it he said i should ask 5k for it "lmao" here are the pictures of it by the road today man he wanted to mark it up real bad huh!!.lol

Tommy I gotta call you out on this one.

2007-2004 = 3 years old
3 years x 12 months = 36 months
36 months devided by 1 grand per five month period = 7.2 grand depreciation total. I am assuming you paid around 10k retail so 10k-7.2k would be 3.8k. Which is ballpark what they offered. Remember we are coming up on 4 years and there is always a good ammount of depreciation the instant you drive off the dealer lot.

2k a year is not bad depreciation.

Well, that being said, what is you next utility vehicle that you have in mind >>>> ?
Or do you plan on another unit ?

Thats a pretty steep drop. Heck if you had an RTV that was 3 years old you'd get 65-70% what you paid with no trouble at all.

Might TommyHPX soon become TommyRTV ????

they came up with 3500.00 and thats with 500.00 worth of tires /200.00 worth of marine speakers waterproof stereo. two racks running lights rear backup light. winch . so if i was to deduct that from what they are offering they are really giving me 2700.00 for the hpx. see what i'm saying .if they would say something like a stripped down hpx and i keep all my stuff i built then maybe yea but noway will i sell them my hpx with all my stuff like it is for 3500.00 when he tells me on the phone that i should be asking 5k for it. would you sell your hpx with all that stuff on it for 3500.00 ?

Tommy, was this the same guy who made the offer 5 months ago? If so go back and ask him what you did to your machine to devalue it so much so quickly. If it isn't track down the guy who did give you the quote and ask him about it.

If you do switch brands is there any brand(s) in particular you are looking at?

I don't blame him for not giving you much of anything for all of your ad-ons. Mods have almost no resale value when they are on a vehicle. But I agree it's a load of crap that he says you need to have everything on there for him to take it at that price.

I have bought 4 new Gators in the last 4 years. I traded a decked out HPX for a better equipped XUV for $2700 difference. Over a $1000 was added list price over the HPX. I got nearly $9000 in trade.

We all know the reason the other feller wants all the accessories left on it.
For reason it will sell faster & at a better price. He's just trying to screw Tommy. Don't know the true depreciation of the unit is, but, if a man quotes you a price and makes certain statements, by the rule of ethics, he should keep his word....

Also, before I purchased all my accessories. I said that there were going to be " X " amount spent on the RTV. Heck, when I got finish, a fortune was tied up in accessories alone. Spent six times more on add ons before I knew it.
I know that buyers don't put a value on accessories, but, if they had to purchase them like others, they would learn true value. Tommy, don't let 'em screw you out of the value of your machine....

What are you asking for your HPX?

This is a prime example of something keeping their value. And he will get it, if I didn't already have a RTV 900, I'd run up there and pick up this one up in a heartbeat !!! And just email them, and the first 50 hour service was done. That a savings within itself.
Even has make a offer on this thing >>>> Someone's going to get a great deal ~~~~

We all know that used gators keep their resale. If you need a refresher, go to machinefinder.com and search for one...I just did, and the cheapest one I could find was on '06 gas model with a dump bed, nothing else listed, 694 hrs, for $5900. The three '04 models listed in my area averaged nearly $7200 a unit.

If I were you tommy, I would call around. I am sure someone will cut a better deal. Its unfortunate that some dealers try to make a killing on one guy. I don't think this is necessarily a deere thing, as much as a sales person being ignorant and/or greedy.

That might not be bad depreciation on a 20k car but it sucks on a 9k atv. Depreciation is not linear any way, you drive a car off the lot and it drops 2k in value, It continues to loose value , but not an even 2k / yr.

I know it's not linear but I can't quantify it in anyway other way then a linear value easily. I agree though with the others that you should look around. You've been pushed around by that dealer too much tommy. I remember other things you've said about them and I think they're just a bad apple to begin with.

I agree that maybe this dealer isn't the best. But having worked at one before, I can tell you that (as has been said) modifications, big tires, wheels, and other non-factory stuff don't add any value. In fact, sometimes it's a liability as many customers won't buy something that has non-factory parts on it. Electrical mods scare them off the worst. Please take no offense at this, just stating what I've seen.

Having the XUV out now also probably doesn't help. Even a machine tricked out a much as this HPX won't have the performance a stock XUV has on a test drive.

Given all of this, your best shot is to sell it privately. A nice JD like this in your front yard will sell faster and for more $$$ than on a dealer lot - and you won't have to complete with a XUV for attention.

It's no different that buying a car or truck and a couple years later the new one comes out with more features and power.

Good luck, and I hope you stay Green.

The only reason I can see him saying the Ranger flips too easy is that it goes faster and if someone isn't careful they will flip it. Did he say this before or after you told him you are going to buy a different UTV?
