GM unveils new 6.2 1/2t specs

Nice. I keep hearing rumors the Ford EcoBoost is due for a power increase of about 40hp and 40 ft tq. If they are on par with one another it would be interesting to see them head to head.

This also makes the diesel offerings look less attractive unless they can pull in a low 30mpg average.

Crazy the power that trucks make these days.

Good numbers just wish they could do it without feeding it 91 octane. I too am anxious to see some real world comparisons with the ecoboost. Looks like we might have a new winner if they have a decent torque curve.

New 6.2L Makes GM Trucks Most Powerful Light Duties

Impressive! Be nice to see the fuel economy numbers.

The MPG's would be a curiosity but given that I average 15-16 with my '13 6.2, 2-3 mpg would be welcome...I thought I wanted a Dmax until I used my new one to pull our new 32' TT and I can say I don't...This thing pulls like a beast (for some reason better than my 2011 6.2) and on non-premium gas with 3:42's and a 6 speed in both...These things get better every year..

Ford has been making close to those numbers for a couple years on regular gas.

Holy cow 11.5 compression on the 6.2, that is why it needs premium gas.

The Ford 6.2 is 9.8 IIRC.

This is the first time that the Chevy's look better than the GMC's IMHO...Those stupid headlights look like they have a black eye on the GMC version...Looked at a '14 when I bought my '13 and couldn't digest the front end...See a ton of them on the road now and really like the '14Chevy until I get used to the GMC....That whole new thing with the LED's doesn't do anything for me..They look like blingy Christmas lights...Not necessary..Thanks Audi who seems to have started this stupid craze. Plus the money falling out of trees pushed me to the '13.

GM did some really cool stuff with the '14 trucks, my objections not withstanding...Under-rail lighting in the bed, power and USB ports EVERYWHERE, interior storage out the wazoo, huge touch screen with camera, very roomy interior, flat rear floors, absurdly quiet interior, very responsive engines (only got to test a 5.3), controls in places that are really intuitive, comfortable seating, and multiple bed/cab configurations and on and on...

I tend to wait until new versions ferment for a while before my buying curiosity peaks although GM seems to have dealt with that everlasting gremlin based on the various GM buyers I work with..Virtually no problems beyond stupid stuff.
