Glow Plugs-Help!

I just noticed that when I turn on the glow plug that the light stays lit for about 8 seconds instead of the normal 4 seconds. After I start the tractor the glow plug light will illuminate back on for about 5 seconds. Any ideas what could be causing it? What should I do or how easy is it to fix? Expensive???

Is it a Class III ????
If so, glow plug timer...little black box that cycles the circuit....easy to fix ( replace ) right at the fuse / relay block. Under $ 50. Good Luck !

2002 TC35D I feel better thank. My warranty was up in May and I'm worried about the cost and was hoping that it is easy enough to repair. Is there one glow plug or one for each cylinder???

There is one glow plug for each cylinder. However, there will only be one timer to control all the glow plugs. The problem is very likely with the timer, not the glow plugs.

I have the same problem.. but I think it's the switch.. not the timer.. if you wiggle the switch some.. the light will go out.

I have the same problem too. I replaced the ignition switch and that didn't help.

I replaced my timer about 1 year ago...kind of tedious to test it...you need to apply power to two points and ohm out the switch watching for the meter to move. Its a simple fix ... pull wires, unscrew the critter, and reinstall. Its a good opportunity to blow out the area of dust and reset all the relays to be sure they're good and tight.

I think if I were in charge, I'd have put the electrics in a dustproof box /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
