MF 275 and MF 85
Greetings! I have a "new" (at least to me) MF 275 which had its 1st problem yesterday. While bush hogging, the rpms dropped from ~1700 to 1300. It still sounded fine, no smoke, just a drop in power. I drained some fuel from the filter, which seemed to help for awhile, even though what came out looked like very clean diesel. I was going to tear into it today, but thought I'd at least check the internet 1st. I googled "MF 275 - loss of power". Your site came up with a similar question. The situation wasn't identical, but I began going back through older posts and found several more similar, though not identical symptoms. Combining all the info I gleaned from the various threads, I came up with the solution: I'd noticed a smear of fuel/grease/dirt under the fuel lift pump. I'd also noticed a lot of dampness all around the injector pump. I'd attributed this to the age of the tractor - after all, my old MF 85 (gas) leaks fluids like a sieve! By cleaning off all the grime, I saw where the fuel was leaking from. I tightened all the screws on the lift pump, and all the hose fittings on the injector pump. No more leaks, no more loss of power! Thank you!

Welcome aboard!
I was going to suggest, that possibly you had gotten into an old bed spring. That creates a similar symptom. .. and it doesn't work any better until you untangle it and cut it out from around the blades.

You did good.

Hello & WELCOME to TBN!

I moved your thread to the Massey Ferguson Owning/Operating Forum. :)

G'day and welcome:thumbsup: I would replace all your fuel fiters for a start and also if you have a small bolt/screw on the top of the lift pump then undo this as there is a screen in there that often gets overlooked, of course after you do this then you will have to bleed it .

Thanks for all the welcomes, plus the tips. tmajor, I've wound up enough barbed wire in my mower to suspect that right away! Luckily it wasn't that. So far it's been running just fine after tightening up the leaks. Once I get around to changing the oil and filters I'll take a look at that screen in the lift pump, too.
