Kubota L3400-HST
Hello Everyone!
Been a while since I've posted anything but I hope to hear the right answers to the question. I have had a Kubota L3400 for three years and it has performed great but..... I am in a position to upgrade to a brand new Grand L 3940 with front loader, 3rd function valve, draft control, and TNT on the back. Good chance of this tractor being the last one I buy. So, the question is, are there any known problems or issues with this model. Would appreciate any comments or advice, good or bad before I pull the trigger. Thanks guys!

I had a L3130 HST,traded for a L4240 HSTC,looked hard at the L3940 tough choice.A friend has a L3940 ...very nice all around tractor.Only went for the L4240 for the 854 loader.

My L3940-1 HST has served me will for over 3 years. Finish mowing, FEL work, bush hogging, front snow blade, 3 point dirt work, plus much more. Very nice sized unit and a real pleasure to operate. If I had to do it all over again, I would look at the L4240 just for the FEL, but my 724 FEL has done everything I have asked. Philip.

I bought my 4240 with the idea that it's going to be with me for 20 to 30 years. I haven't had any problems with mine at all, I would recommend it to anyone. I was a little nervous about getting the HST since I'm use to the idea of push harder on the go pedal and the motor revs up. Now that I have it I have no regrets at all. I really like the idea of having the motor reved up while operating the loader without having the tractor try to move or shifting into neutral. With the HST+ you can shift 'down" to get more driving force while digging by simply flicking a lever next to the steering wheel, like flashing your high beams. I would say the 3940 is a nice step up, but not too large of a step from the 3400.

I had a L5030 HSTC for a couple of years and really liked it, but had to get a L40 Series about three weeks ago. I just spent two days, with at least six more to go clearing up some over growth and trees. My son is using a tracked skid loader and I am using our L5740 and M8540. The HST+ is great and the swivel seat sure is saving me a lot of fatigue as I am backing up more than going forward. I looked at the 3940 and it is a really nice tractor, but for the HP loss due to the cab, stronger loader and quite a bit of acreage, I decided to up-size.

I too went with the L5740 for the extra HP and stronger loader. The grand L's are lovely machines, just make sure you are getting all the loader and hp you want. I had a L3130 for a few months and it was just too under powered for the hills I have here.

I don't know of any reported problems with this model. Sure any individual tractor could have a problem, but in General the owners of this series of tractor love them.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments. The L3400 has served me fine that's why I am just going to the 3940.
What I like about the Grand L is it won't have the jerky 3pt and it will have draft control. Also apparently Kubota
doesn't have a kit for TNT on the 3400. Dealer quoted $3400 for a kit off of the 4400 but wasn't sure it would work.
One more thing is the HST plus!

I think you will be very pleased with it, I believe it to be a fine tractor.
