Figure most of you wear a boot just about everyday. I have all my life and since my first pair of US Army Combat boots at age 10, because my daddy wore them.

Been thru a lot in over 60 years. But of all my working boots this pair of USMC issue RATS is the most comfortable and probaly, rugged I have ever worn. 3 styles, Steel Toe, GorTex and hot weather. They are made by Danner for the USMC. Yea, bit pricey at $350 a pair MSRP, but they are ISSUE if you are a Marine and as a result, plenty of Marines rarely wear them as they have desk jobs, some guys keep a pair for display and inspection and have a pair they wear. And a lot of guys get out of the USMC and the boots end up on ebay...where I got mine for $69 bucks, new and unused.

If you are looking for a good comfortable work boot and you would be proud wear a boot that has the USMC Globe on the outer heel cup then this boot is for you.

I may have been Army for 26 years but the USMC has a BETTER BOOT by a mile..

The most comfortable boots I have ever worn were the Chukka boots the Air Force had back in the day. When they announced that they were phasing them out, I bought every one I could find in my size.

I still my Danner "Ft Lewis" Boots made for and authorized for wear on Ft Lewis, Wa when I was there (mid 80's). Great boot for sure.

For me the Garmont T8 Bifidas are the most comfortable and durable boot I have worn in 16 years of service. They come out of the box feeling like you have been breaking them in for a year

Always had to wear steel toed, slip resistant, E-rated boots for work.

Always liked timberland pro off the boot trucks that would come once a year. Had a rash of bad ones where the soles would delaminate from the boot.

So went through a 4-5 year spell of buying cheap $50-$70 boots instead of the $200 boots. Couldn't get more than 4-5 months out of a pair before sole was wore flat, holes in boot sides, sole falling off, etc. These all being 8" boots as 6" boots always seem to eat a hole in my Achilles tendon.

Went back to red wings. Current pair is 2 years old and shows no signs of stitching failure, sole delamination, sole wear, etc. If not for the oil/grease stains and a few scuffs they would look like new.

Good boots are one of the things that's well worth spending the money on and you truly get what you pay for.

That said, I don't order boots online unless it's a model/style I have had before and can order the exact same thing. I have a difficult time finding a boot that fits just right. I have a wide and flat foot. Many boots are too narror or have too much arch support for me. When within the same mfg and similar style.

While the size 10-1/2 redwing I have now fits like a dream, I tried on many of the same size and similar style (all redwing and some danner). Some were ok, some were just unbearable.

I had to wear boots most of my life from Army service to 45 years of heavy construction. I have several pair that I never wear now. Since I retired, no more hot, heavy boots for me, I prefer a light weight shoe with no steel toes to rub my foot.

Times sure have changed. When I was in, 83-88, we had one choice of boot, and it was black leather that you spent hours spit shining.

I have only heard great things about it, and the only negative was a few said the soles last but the boot does not under military use. Us Infantry guys in combat can wear out a pair of boots in 3-4 mo. Went thru 3 pair in Vietnam.

Cheap don't come good and good don't come cheap, when it comes to boots quality is number 1, feet are too valuable to go cheap!

I still use a basic pair of steel-toed Kodiaks for cutting grass in the summer.

2 or 3 boots ago, I had a chance to get composite safety boots at a great price through a (legitimate) business connection. After that, I won't be going back to steel for new boots.

I prefer a high boot, so the lower weight with composite is always nice by the end of the day, but the real bonus is Winter time up here. I don't have a cabbed tractor, so the better extended low-temperature performance with composite safety boots is really appreciated.

Spent the money on Terra Argos last time. Stood up well to 3 years of light-industrial use; I like the soles (still good for climbing steel ladders), made in Canada. I really like the large toe-box of the boot; I don't have alien-length toes or anything like that, I just like the extra wiggle-room by the middle of the day...

^ Convenient, always, but I can see that being critical in military use. If you suddenly have to replace a boot, that'll make the difference between walking and hobbling the next day(s)....
