Zing, I never thought about that. I just might have to consider doing just that! We have high tensile wire with 5 strand fences so it would have to be a dedicated opening, but you absolutely got the wheels turning in my head now!.

Again, I appreciate all of the feedback and I know how you guys love projects with PICTURES! I'll keep ya'll posted.

Sometimes it just take a new pair of eyes on a project to see it in a bit of a different way. Hope it works out for you, it should save a lot of climbing down from the tractor and opening/closing gates. :thumbsup:

I def appreciate the 2nd looks though. I ended up changing the way I was going to do things pretty substantially thanks to you guys! So the only thing I'm slightly concerned with now is the only high spot I have (read-only place where water drains away from the fence in the pasture) is on top of the hill where the road runs along my property. I'm going to cut the fence and splice my feeder inline. The only downside is, i'm going to have to be on the road feeding the bales. This sounds worse than it is I think. I was thinking about cars coming both ways, so somewhere near the top of the hill is a must. The only real problem then would be the snow plow throwing a mess of slush inside the feeder. Maybe the horses will like salted hay?
