I too was here in Houston for Katrina, but I believe you might be referring to Rita that was not long after Katrina and caused a big panic in Houston, though it totally missed us. The traffic jams were insane! I did ride out Ike and was without power for 16 days -- not fun....

You may be right, Rita was also in September 2005. Rita made landfall near Sabine Pass TX, didn't Rita come right after Katrina?

Well, even with the hurricane about 150 miles off shore, I still managed to get a couple hrs on the tractor!
It was actually kinda nice this morning, with the sun shining and a nice strong breeze. I worked until about two o'clock, then the rain started moving in. I guess I'll be housebound for the next day or two!

Yeah, 2005 was a bad year when it comes to hurricanes. Katrina hit on August 25th and Rita hit on 24 September. It was stronger than Katrina and headed right at Houston. Took a last minute turn and hit near the Texas/Louisiana border instead. Made a BIG mess there.

Actually LBT, Katrina made landfall on the morning of August 29. Same date as this one!

True, been hearing that all day, not sure why I wrote the 25th! BUT I just saw they think its coming in in a few hours now.

I'm still piddling around doing things. Just came in from cleaning out the gutters on the front of the house. Starting to get some pretty good gusts. The rain comes and goes.

I wish I was home to prepare, I live in south Louisiana but I am stuck in Fort Worth Texas doing training for work and my family is back home riding it out. When I left for Fort Worth the storm was going to hit Miami and go up east coast, boy were they wrong.:hissyfit:

Unbelievable! It's a little after six in the evening and we're still getting hammered with rain. Nearly 10 inches so far!
Hopefully some of you folks that need the rain will get some of this.....if it ever moves out of here!

Here in Bismarck, we started getting showers at 12noon and pretty much steady rain since 2:30 pm. Nothing heavy just a slow rain that hopefully can soak in the soil rather than just run off into the creeks although some run off into our ponds will be nice to see them full up again rather than watching cranes walk across it.
