Getting Ready for Issac

Here in Bismarck, we started getting showers at 12noon and pretty much steady rain since 2:30 pm. Nothing heavy just a slow rain that hopefully can soak in the soil rather than just run off into the creeks although some run off into our ponds will be nice to see them full up again rather than watching cranes walk across it.

Gary, glad to hear you're getting some much needed rain. I did'nt think this storm would ever move out of here! I think we ended up with over ten inches since wednesday.

The rain hasnt intensified at all, instead it has settled into a light drizzle and predictions now are only 1.15" total out of the storm. I was sure hoping it would got west of us but looks like it is going to stay well east so the drought will continue. At least we will get a bit of respite from the blazing sun for a couple of days.

This place is literally soaked. I was going to pull some of my gravel back up the drive, but it's entirely too wet. Water is still running down the hill, and it's cut gullies a foot deep. I guess I'll just let it be for a couple days, and maybe It'll dry enough to work.

I wouldnt mind fixing some gullies if we could get enough rain to make some. From what I have been seeing on the weather, the gulfcoast hasnt been hurting for rain this summer anyway. I suppose that is natures way though, feast or famine but never just right at least it seems that way in the last decade or two.
