Getting our new puppy today

You can't beat the intelligence of a border collie. My daughter has a border-pit. Intelligent, hard-headed and athletic.

Nothing better then a new puppy!!!!

We have two Akita puppies right now. They just turned 8 weeks old and should be heading to their new homes next week.

Every time we do this, I hope we never do it again. The lack of sleep, the never ending feeding times all night long, but now that it's coming to an end, I know that I'll miss them.

Having lost our two senior dogs within the past the months, we are on hold right now while I rebuild our fenced in yard and deck. When it's time, we would like to adopt a bonded pair of what ever breed. The little one was a min-pin/boxer mix adopted in 2011. The second, a pure boxer was estimated to be 2-4 years old when we adopted him also in 2011.

It's painfully quiet around the house.

Apparently, the best toy in the world to Cooper, is the basket that all his chew toys reside in. He'll play for hours climbing in it as it tips up and then dumps over and he spills out.

I've also had him out around the property when I'm working, and he tries to stay right with me. Wears the poor little guy out.

There's a nice bonded pair of 2 y/o lab mixes at the Cookeville Putnam Animal Shelter in Cookeville, Tn. One is named Hot Rod. The other is Maverick. Here is their Facebook post if I can get it to work.

Thanks for the link. Those two look like happy campers but we are not ready yet. I have the old fenced in yard down but have not started rebuilding it. Same with a 25 foot long ramp off of our deck to the yard. So it's going to be awhile.

I know what you mean. It's been 14 months for me and I've decided to wait until spring. I did look at a nice yellow lab last month, we went for a walk and he was very well behaved: but I realized I am not up to training a dog yet.

I'm starting to feel like Mr Bo Jangles though.

I had to go out of town for a few days to help a friend. When I came home, I set my travel duffle down.
When I walked back over to it, it seems Cooper found his new sleeping spot. I think he was sending me a message about what he expects, the next time I have to leave.

congrats on the new puppy, enjoy and don't spoil it too much

it's actually the first time I hear about the breed, I have seen them without knowing the name it was a interesting read.

I had some pups a while back that were Mountain Cur, Mountain Fiest, English Pointer mix. They are easy to mess with and have good temperaments. They do like to bark at everything but that makes them good watch dogs. I had a fellow make a 5 hour trip to get one of these. He had recently lost a female Cur dog and looking to replace her. He has been very happy with her.
