ford 1520
When the ground is pretty wet from rain my Ford 1520 gets stuck easily when mowing. It's a 2wd with turf tires. I am planning on switching the back tires to get more clearance to put on the chains I bought for it. Should I get liquid ballast such as calcium chloride - will that help prevent getting stuck?

Chains might help keep you moving, but you might tear up your lawn. Filling those tires will help a little. But it's best to stay off wet grass...anyway, wet grass doesn't mow too good.

Take it easy,the last thing you want breaking traction...could end up damages or more.

It's the way things are.

Wet = slippery = less traction.

2wd = less traction

turf tires = less traction

chains = tear up ground = dig hole when lose traction

rib tread on tire = better traction = damage turf = dig hole fast when lose traction

4wd = best traction, chose tire to meet needs

Front End Loader = way to extricate stuck tractor (usually) without 2nd vehicle

filled tires = heavier vehicle = marginally better traction, all options above still apply

calcium chloride = badly rusted rims in time = expensive if you keep tractor that long
