Yesterday my son filled my Yanmar YM2310 from the 5 gallon plastic fuel can. Today I removed the filler cap and looked into the fuel filler filter screen and noticed some sort of jell in the bottom of the screen. So I looked in the 5 gallon can and noticed a little water in the bottom. Maybe a teaspoon, certainly not any more. But I don't know if any water made it into the tractor tank. The fuel can seals tightly so I am mystified about the water. I buy my diesel from the pumps that folks fill their pickups from so that I think the fuel is pretty fresh. But the real mystery is the gelled stuff in the fuel filler filter screen. It can't be from cold weather. Could it be bacteria? Aside from buying bactericide to pour into the tractor tank and my 5 gallon can is there anything else I should do? I will be watching the fuel filter bowl to see in any water shows up.
Thanks,
Eric

What kind of fuel do you run? Biodiesel?

Biodiesel is something I will never purchase unless I had an
older model Mercedes diesel pre 1990's

Don't eat the jelly! It's most likely bacteria. Makes me think of the movie "The Blob".

Don't use it for jelly to spread on your bread:ROFLMAO:

Not sure about Washington State but in the Midwest from 4/15-10/15 on road pumps are mandated 10% or more Bio. Off road non taxed fuel is exempt from mandate. Bio can turn into peanut butter at colder temps so no on road for me during summer. Not usually clear jelly, more opaque.
