Gear shifter spring

I have a YM2001 2WD, i was plowing a bit this evening and noticed the gear shifter was a bit hard to get in gear when trying to change gears on a slight incline. I almost had to force it into gear, seemed fine but about half hour later went to put in in reverse and teh shifter was loose, so i wiggle it a bit and sounded like it was broken, took the boot off and the shifter would lift out the tranmission, the spring on it is broken, please tell me this is a easy fix! thanks guys

While I haven't done this . From your pictures , it looks east. Remove that C- clip & install new spring

ok, what is a c-clip, could you elaborate. I can work a wrench but this is only my second tractor.

In picture # 3 (from left to rt. ) That little clip at the top of the spring. If that's the spring u are talking about

For what it's worth; Put a rag over the shift hole before you try and snap off the clip. You know that clip will try and jump down into the gear box.
