Can someone tell me where the gearshift is located on an L series DT model. Is it a short shaft shifter or a longer shaft? I'm looking into the L series gear model and the local dealers do not have them on their lots.

I am about 6'6" tall and fit / ergonomics is very important to me. Just curious how it is located in relation to the shuttle shift, loader control etc, before I pursue any further with the dealer.

Thought there would be a picture on the website but could not find anything.

On my L4300 it is about 18 inches high?and just left of center close to the steering column, couple inches right of clutch pedal.Mine is a 8f/2r no shuttle.Loader control is far right and forward. If you want a pic I can take one tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, actually I should of specified the Grand L series. I was under the impression that it was on one of the fenders, but I was not sure which one, nor how big it was.

The shift is the to the left of the seat. They are very easy shifting and as much as I prefer the other transmissions for most work they are a great operating unit. The sales on them are not as good as on the hydro or GST but we do find people that have been running the straight gear drives and prefer them bu the sales on them account for single digit percentages of the units we sell.

Here's a pic showing where it is on the L3830...

It's very easy to operate.

Art,

Realizing how small a percentage sales these gear models represent, how is Kubota's distribution system setup to accomodate a request for one when it arises??

Are the DT's really a small percentage ????? I don't know why. If you don't mind gears, it's the best.

Between the flat deck, adjustable seat, and tilt steering, I doubt there are many people who would feel cramped on an L series. The range and gear levers are well clear on the left side of the seat. The shuttle is tucked nicely under the left side of the steering wheel. It's luxurious compared to my old gear Yanmar.
