I only put the deck on and off with the FEL hooked up. It makes things a lot easier. Turn height control the whole way down, raise 3PH to fully raised, use FEL to lift front end of tractor off the ground about a foot, it's really easy to slide the mower under then lower the tractor again. Hook up the driveshaft, drop 3PH and then hook up the rest. Normally it only takes about 3 minutes. If you don't have the FEL, life will hard I admit.

I never tried it with the fel, that sure does sound a lot better that wiggling it under the tractor

I put my 54" mulching MMM on for the first time today, with the salesman's help. He's a great guy, excellent dealership. What a pain! I couldn't believe they expect you to hoist a 105kg steel deck up by hand, line it up with the hydraulic tabs, and precisely place a pin into the holes, all while holding everything lined up by hand.

jayhaitch,

Was the backhoe still on the tractor when you installed the deck? I found that the deck arms will not fully lower with the backhoe on (because the 3 point hitch arms are folded up. If the backhoe was not on then the deck adjustment knob needs turned to lowest setting.

The first time I tried to install my deck I said the same thing (how the heck do they expect you to lift this thing!

What problems are you having with hooking up the MMM. I have mine on and off a dozen or more times in the past months and may be able to give you some hints on the easiest way to do it.

Here is my problem, First is there a manual for the mower? I have gotton one for the tractor, loader and back hoe. Nothing that even mentions the mower.

When I removed my mower I figured out what linkages needed to be undone, no problems there, I used the FEL to lift the tractor up but I couldn't get the rear shaft to disconnect from the tractor. I see it has a spring type collar that must release the shaft coupler but it won't budge... Am I doing something wrong or is there a simple release for this? So I could only separate the shaft halves to get it out. I had to remove it to get that gravel spread out.

Any thoughts? I sure hope I don't get it for such a dumb question. :)

Thanks as always.

The sping collar that locks the drive shaft onto the PTO shaft can be a little tricky to release the first few times. Try to pull it back on both sides (like at 9 and 3 o'clock) and not just from one side. To help it release try jiggling it a little.

Ray2310: slap myself on the forehead! By George, I think you've got it (in best British accent...) It just didn't make sense that a well designed Japanese tractor would expect anyone to manually hoist a 105kg MMM. Yes, I did have the BH on, and therefore the 3 pt hitch folded up. A big bottle 'a Scotch to you for this vital tidbit of info. I bet the salesman never faced installing a MMM with and without the BH. The dealer sells far more Kubota's than small Massey's, and this sales guy is the small tractor guy, not the farm tractor salesman. I'll tell him this so he can help other customers. He told me he just delivered another 2310 last week.

Little Mac: yes, there is a manual for the mower. My salesman has ordered one for me. He thought he gave me one when I bought the unit, but didn't. I asked why are none of these manuals available on line. His honest answer: because Massey wants to make money off you ordering them. He said none of the tractor manufacturers have on-line manuals. He's covering the cost as there should have been one included when I bought the unit. My tiller has the manual taped to it.

Yes, I be dumb too sometimes. I'm turning the PTO shaft collar around and around, wondering why is it not unscrewing? Then I see the 3 locking ball bearings inside, and give the collar a tug. Slap myself on the forehead again. :)

1*well I got about 3 hours of seat time yesterday.
We had company so that shortened my riding time.
2* My neighbor is a excavator and he was over checking the little red machine out and he was impressed for the size.

1*Get any seat time on it tody?
2*My neighbor is a licensed heavy equipement operator.
Done any BH work with it yet?

The BH is really nice to have but sometimes I could use one with a longer reach.

I'm wanting to dig out some stumps but they are across a ditch and up on a bank making them about 2 feet out of the reach of the back hoe.
My solution is put in a culvert and fill in on the bank to where I can get the BX23 closer to the stumps.

Well I got about 6 hours in today. I started to clear about 1 acre of heavily wooded land to make room for a new garage. I was mainly using the box scraper and the FEL. Worked really well. For this I wish I had the AG tires, but all in all worked better than I thought.

No Back Hoe work done today, I did tear up one stump with it the other day. about 30 minutes of use. I need more practice with it. :)

I also mowed about 1/2 acre today and I wasn't blown away by the mower. I guess my JD GX345 was a great mower as the MF did about the same. The JD wasn't driven by PTO so it was quieter, the whine in this mower is actually a bit much. This is my first experience with this type of attachment so I was actually disappointed in the load whine. I am running about 2100 rpm. Maybe it takes a little getting used to it.

One big disappointment was after the BH was sitting all day in the garage I went to re-hook it up and I saw a drip... turns out one of the lines running down the boom was dripping pretty good. I will look tomorrow and see what exactly is going on, I have about 9 hours on the machine and the BH has only been used 1 time The leak is in a place where there are no pinches etc... weird. I hope the dealer will warranty a line for me.

Had the loader off and back on today, that was easy to do. Mow deck is easy know that the shaft coupler is freed up.

What kind of weight can you pull with this. I have a trailer I would like to move but I think it is too big for this tractor. Does anyone have the towing limits? It is just to move it on flat ground a very short distance.

Never got a chance to use the PHD today, maybe tomorrow or next week-end.

I am glad you got throught that little mower problem. After using it a couple of times it really does get easier. The pics look great, looks like there is plenty of fun to be had.

Actually had the little JD 118 out the other day and was hoping back and forth between the JD and the MF. I couldn't believe how much different these two are to use. I really don't want anything to do with the little lawn tractor so I had the wife out cutting the back yard. She hasn't run the MF so she doesn't know the difference quite yet, and I don't think I am going to tell her. As far as the noise, I think the MF was actually quieter than the little JD.

*Up Date
Got the culvert in and enough dirt over it to get the BX23 close enough to dig out 2 of the 4 stumps this morning.
