GC17xx people, how's all your 3ph stuff stowed up when the backhoe is on.

I don't use the rear PTO much, so I keep its cover on; for the mid-PTO shaft (and other splined shafts), when that's exposed, I slip a piece of 1" heater hose over it. Used super glue to stick a plastic cap on the end of the hose to plug the end. Also use pieces of 1" hose over shafts when stuff is in storage.

Been lurking awhile, first time poster. I have enjoyed reading the info on this forum. Recently I bought the MF GC1723EB. Wasn't sure this would help but these are pics on the 3PH while the backhoe is on. Hard to get clear pics but hoping it may help.

It does help Josh, thanks! Interesting how on your's, the lower lift arms are so closer together when stowed up, so that the top of them fit within the raised portion of the fender. I take it that's because you don't have the pto shaft guard on?
That's the issue I was having with having the pto guard on, pivoted up. Unless I'm doing something wrong, the guard forces the arms to be stowed farther apart from each other, so that the tops of them don't fit into that raised portion of the fender like on yours. They're way farther apart, resting against the fender.

Tried to get a better, brighter picture just now. All the guards, etc are how it came from the dealer. I haven't taken any guards off myself.

For anyone with this or other brands ... how are the PTO guards fixed to be able to flip up? Mine mounted with four bolts, no flip mechanism. I'm wondering if I can adapt mine. Maybe just a couple of small hinges?
On mine, the PTO guard was fixed with 4 bolts; if two are removed and the other two loosened, the the guard can be rotated upward. After doing that for a while, I finally removed the guard altogether. No issues since, since I'm the only one who uses the tractor.
I realize there's a danger there, but since I'm the only one who uses it......

It's the same with the massey, 4 screws, gotta remove the front 2 to pivot the guard up. I didn't have all the 3ph stuff on, had the guard attached by all 4 bolts with the backhoe on. To be honest, it's way less hassle to mount/dismount the top link and the lower lift arms than it is to mess around with pivoting that guard up/down. Just 1 screw as opposed to 4.
The one thing I do like about keeping the guard on, it supports the hydro hoses, it's like a little shelf for them.

OK, your four bolts must be on the side of the housing (towards the wheels). Mine are on the flat face (facing straight back), no pivot possible.

Just another question.....if you look on page 15 of this document, you can see a BX vs. GC comparison. Looks like the arms arm removed on this GC. Can a MMM be used with the BH on?
