Gas tank level unreadable

I have a z411 mower, and have been generally pleased with it. A minor irritant is that the material of the plastic tank is cloudy enough that I can't read the fuel level through the slot provided under the seat. There is a molding seam at showing there, too, which makes it more difficult. I have to lift the seat and look st the top of the tank, which will give a general sense of how full it is.
Should I add some sort of dye? Any ideas?

Use a wooden stick to check the level.

I have these on my mowers. Must be correct cap size and length but they're great.

I have a Husqvarna 2354GXLS with the same type of crappy sight gauge. These days I just fill the tank before any usage.
