Sickle Bar G&S / Superior Sickle Bar Rivet Installation

I am having trouble getting rivets to hold after replacing a couple of broken rock guards. I have tried rounding them over with a ball peen hammer, and heating them with the acetylene torch prior to rounding, but neither method has worked. The rivets have sheared off again within a couple of hours of mowing. Any suggestions? Is something out of adjustment with the cutter bar that may be causing this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

To properly set a rivet you are not just interested in rounding the head... Your actually expanding the diameter so it captures the hole of both pieces and fills completely.
Also be sure that both pieces are tightly clamped together BEFORE setting the rivets. KennyV

Thanks for the information. Based on these instructions, I do not think I have got the rivets tight enough.
