I am getting a 4wd tractor. I want to put turf tires on it and understand that I need to keep the ratio correct. Has anyone done this for Fx28D? If so what rims/tires did you use?

Failing that, does anyone know the correct ratio for this tractor?

I understand the way to measure it and have read the firestone ag article (I just want the benefit if someone has done this or if yanmar actually publishes the spec). Seems as if we could start a thread with the data and experience for each tractor (just like those for hp, size, weight, etc. specs).

I guess a similar tractor that is a 4wd tractor that used the same sized original tires would have the same ratio--therefore any information on a tractor that uses the same siazed tires and has been converted would be welcome.

I am not against getting new rims made, I just need some direction.

I put Bridgestone diamond treads on my 24" FX24D. Is the FX28 also on 24" rims? On the fronts I put on 16" truck tires. I used the info from the Firestone site for circumference to assure that they were the same or within the 2-4% variance allowed. I have slight windup in the drive shaft when on pavement, but not on softer ground. I had wind up with the original tires, so some must be normal.

Yes they are 24 inch rims on the rear. What size truck tires did you put on the front. Even if there is a slight "misalignment" or lag, it will only matter in 4wd.

I just looked at the tractor. I have Goodyear Workhorse 245/75/R16s on the front. I bought them used and they cost only $25 iustalled on my rims.

My neighbor has a new (1 Yr old) JD 790 & I have the FX24D. I have driven theirs and last week end she drove mine. Her comment after driving the Yanmar was I like the steering on the FX. I personally prefer mine to theirs for maneuvarability and the transmission.

Add into the equation: what she paid for her's vs what you paid for yours. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Hey, how you doing Ernie? I put on the Bridgestone diamond treads that fit the Yanmar 24" rims. Their not very wide, but they certainly do a nice job cutting the grass compared to the rice tire. I haven't had much snow here in MD in the past 2 winters so haven't had to stress them. Most snow we had was 5", and they did just fine with my rear blade. I have discovered how nicely the locking differential is with these tires. If I need traction I usually just kick that in and away we go.
