the original is really thin foil fuses. My Refurb came with like solder wrapped between the screw instead of fuses.

But it usually is on the lower left side of the dash, covered with a black plastic cover.

After finally getting my fuse panel problems straightened out with a Glass type fuse and repaired the
bad connection everything electrical was working correctly. And has stayed that way. After knowing I corrected them all curiosity was killing the cat so to speak. I have both styles of Regulators old and new. After a few months with no problems I hooked the old one up and it still worked fine. Then I really got brave and wired the Thermal start. And it works : That's been at least 8yrs. ago and I believe I replaced the Neg. Battery cable since then. Which now the battery stays charged and the terminals get cleaned... All the connections for that matter!!

Yes! And the circuit next to it is there LOL. What amp are they rated I have no idea. The glass fuse I used was the highest amp. Fuse I had. And will most likely use the highest one I have if I ever have to replace the small link. Wonder what a 2000 service manual says I have nothing on it
.

I sure feel much better about using a glass fuse link now. I used a 25 amp. After thinking about it. And if I was Candor I think I would try Fredericks. Esp. Being in Gadsden AL. That's kind of close to him and should be able to help him out....

Is your fuse panel missing or you still can't find it and replace a link???

California uses the same box just used those little glass fuse holders and attached to either side of the screws. There is only what 4 of them?

I had the solder wires attached to mine when I got it and they broke from vibration and would disconnect and reconnect every now and then causing power to come and go sometimes. My first replacement was to buy the fuses from hoye. I did that and they were slightly to long for the box, I had to kind of bend the fuse wire up a bit to get in place. It still worked but I didn't like it and the panel was old and wire ends seemed corroded. I bought a fuse panel off ebay and rewired it all my self and used ATO blade type fuses for it so that there easy to find, if needed. NO worrying about buying foil fuses from Hoye or putting glass fuse holders in place if need be or breaking a glass fuse for the wire inside. Plus it looks neat and modern now. I should have labeled them at this point but I didn't. There only a few wires to chase if a problem occurs and only a few fuses to pull if I have a problem and want to check those. I could of even used the LED ones that light up when burned out. ANd there is an extra spot now incase I put work lights on it or something else oneday.

Careyo6 I bought this tractor 6 mo. ago Loss or misplaced the key. replaced the switch with a new one did not remove the battery cable due to vary close working space I shorted a wire on the switch. Blow a fuse. the picture well help me find the fuse box I hope. Due to the weather I haven't bend able to work on it. Has a loader this make it more differcult to see where the fuse box is. With all the help from you people will maybe I get the job done I plan to replace fuse box with a new one from Hoye tractor co. I later located the old key. The fuse box was not removed by me hope its still there some where. Again thanks for all the replays from you people. cabdor

If you replaced the key switch with battery still hooked up let's hope you only blew a fuse.

FWIW I found my old post with the photo of that. I installed those in late 2003, and haven't needed to replace any fuses yet. I should have bought the Hoye replacement panel, or at least used blade fuses, but I already had the materials to do it this way so why not.

As I recall it was a joke on here at the time 'you can tell a VN refurb by [non OEM] glass fuses all in a single bundle covered with electrician's tape'. I went ahead and did this - without the tape - anyway. :p

Well mine has or had solder wrapped between the screws in an "x" pattern.

Carey tractor has the same solder but the guy that worked on his did the solder in a different pattern than mine
