I know others have had issues with tanks leaking, but has anyone had success in sealing the cracks up. Mine started leaking last week on the back side where it sets against the support bracket. Dealer wants 400.00 for new one :fiery:. I think its pretty sad that 2 years in and the fuel tanks starts leaking.
Any info you might have would be appreciated.

Here is a link with some ideas: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/ls-tractor-owning-operating/346694-fuel-tank-leak-2.html?highlight=tank

Page 2 has a post where the tank was repaired with JB weld.

I too have an LS with a plastic tank. At least one other member with my same model has had his tank leak. If mine ever leaks I would order a new tank. In the mean time I would remove the tank and use the JB weld method as a temporary repair. There have been a few other members that have had success using JB Weld (I've read most of those repair posts) so I'd give it a try and use it. If it leaked at some later point I'd have a new tank on my shelf to install then I'd repair it again and put it on the shelf if needed later.

What is the tank made of plastic, aluminum, steel? I patched a pin hole in the steel gas tank in my truck with epoxy putty several years ago and many many miles later still no leak.

My fuel tank, on my XR4046HC, being replaced under warranty next week. Small leak where fuel line leaves tank. 250 hours on tractor.

Could it be plastic welded like the body shops do?

Probably but ...... It's still in warranty.

Use a form in place gasket sealer like Motoseal like I used to repair my tank.

Mine developed a leak as well. Used JB Weld for polyethylene.
Worked like a champ

Mine was replaced under warranty, as well.

I'm quite sure they know they have a problem.

So far the epoxy is holding on mine. I spoke with my dealer again and he said he has fixed several, I tried to get them to warranty it , but no go. Only 183 hrs and ive had front wheel seal replaced twice for leaking and now fuel tank.:mur:

What is the reason they are not covering the fuel tank under warranty? Was is struck, or did It JUST start to crack and leak.

My local dealer who wasn't actually the selling dealer, took care of mine, even though I was out of warranty. LS said they would replace the tank but I would have to pay for the labor. My repair has been holding well for about 6 months, so I'm keeping the new tank as a backup.

It just cracked on the back side where it sets against the bracket. 5 year warranty on drive train, two years on everything else. How convenient

I have had my G3033 since 2012. About 2 years in, the tank started leaking by the support bracket. My dealer warranted the tank if I did the labor. Easy to change. My dealer told me to make sure that I did not over tighten the support strap. Just snug it up so tank does not move. Over tightening was the primary reason for the leaks. When they put the tractors together they cinched the tanks down tight. Over time with the expanding and contracting of the tank leaks would form around the brackets. I did what he said and have not had any more problems. I did not have much luck with the JB weld. I tried that first, but in a short time it cracked and started leaking as well. Good luck with your tank. I use my G3033 Hard. It is my go to tractor. I also have a LS5020 it is my hay tractor.
