Oil & Fuel fuel sender problem

I have a 4520 jd .had it for 1 1/2 years took it to the dealer last fall because the fuel gauge was erratic. mechanic said sometimes a type of float comes loose in the tank and allows the gauge readings become inaccurate.I have read where others have had similar problems . I am wondering if he shooting me straight or if just didn't want to replace the fuel sender. has anyone had this problem and had it corrected without any more problems? it is still under
warranty. thanks for any replys

3 Sending units later mine is now working correctly. My first one the float fell off of the end . But the next one( the new style) would read empty with a full tank and then after an hour or so of use it would creep up to show the full tank?
