Folks, my I4016 tractor with a twin Vanguard engine has a fuel pump problem. I believe it works on a vacuum system, every time I use it in the summer It stalls and I figured out it wasn't getting gas. To get it running again I have to blow the crap out of the fuel pump and sometimes I have to take it apart and blow it clean. Most of the time that works, but now It's beginning to bug me. I also blow out the little brass screen on the bottom side, I assume this is the air intake to create the vacuum. Can someone tell me why is this happening all of a sudden? Also, can this be replaced with an electric pump? This only happens in the summer, never in the winter when I'm snow blowing.

Your local NAPA dealer sells a 12 volt pump that puts out about 2 PSI. You don't want much more pressure than that or else you will have a flooding problem. Wire it to your keyswitch on the terminal that gets LIVE when the key is in the ON position. Install an in-line fuel filter just before that new pump.

Hydriv, Thank you. I will buy one and try it. There's already a fuel filter there, I changed that a couple of weeks ago.
