The tire valve trick will work but I would use a high pressure valve stem that one you push through and put a nut and rubber washer on the outside, but you would have to takke the sending unit out to place it in the hole the other option would be to buy a 1/4 inch NPT bulkhead fitting for air and a rubber washer they would go through the tank and then you would place a nut and tighten on the outside.
