You could always go with an electric fuel pump or on of those pulse pumps.

good point. Now that im pretty sure of what the pronlem is well im going to try a $40 pump mechanical pump first and if that doesnt work I ill will try an electric pump and power it from the same line that controls the fuel shutoff to the carburator.

This going to sound really stupid but just got done replacing fuel filter etc, but a neighbor stopped by and loosened my gas cap. Runs beautiful. Feel dumb but it works. Always worth a try!

pressing down on that circled point it is very stiff. I have to use extreme pressure to get it to move at all. Definitely not enough to get gas out of it. I have bought 2 and they7 both are very stiff. This is the contract point with the rod that I assume moves back and forth with the cam shaft or something. The idea is this pushes gas to go one way through the fuel pump?

I bought another from a different sources and its the same very stiff rod on the back. Still struggleing

LX279 48" cutting bed tractor with 18hp water cooled Kawasaki engine.

While cutting with my tractor I saw fuel leaking out of a hole in the fuel pump.
It was running fine but this is NOT good so I ordered a new fuel pump. Fuel Pump AM132715 I was surprised how cheap they are on Amazon $14!!

Did the simple replacement and mower went about 5 min before engine started to race and then died.
Restarting would turned over the staring engine but not the engine. I assumed i had a bad pump and got another. engine still wouldn't catch.
replaced the fuel filter (installed right direction) no change.
checked the fuel line from the fuel filter to fuel pump and when I sucked on the line (bleah) fuel came down it and continued as long as I kept the line lower then the filter. so I thinks its good
checked the line from fuel filter to carburetor and when turning the engine over I see no spurts of fuel coming out of the output end of the fuel pump.
(HOW does thus fuel filter work?) should I see fuel spurting when I crank the engine?
took off the carburetor fuel solenoid and fuel poured out. checked this solenoid and it was sticking so replaced it. works correctly now but still engine wont turn over.
replaced spark plugs engine won't turn over.
NOt quite sure what more I can do.... any suggestions? I think its fuel related ? seems still to be fuel pump but I've replaced it twice from different sources.

So the problem turned out to be that i am a cheap son of a gun.
I isolated the problem to the fuel pump. If I fed fuel via gravity to the carbonator it ran fine. I bought a cheap online fuel pump and it didnt solve the problem. I bought another because I was sure this was the problem. IT didnt work either but would run for a while and then die. very frustrating. I finally spent $50 for a brand name fuel pump and it worked perfectly. GRRRRRRRRRRR

The problem with the cheap pumps is that either they dont work at all. first pump or they leak air into the line to the carbonator and eventually this causes it to die. wont run again until this air fills the line completely. I diagnosed this by using clear 1/4 ID hose and could watch it happen GRRRRRRR

Simple solution... dont buy super cheap parts from china !!!!
