Massey Ferguson 1736/1740/1742 fuel cap alternatives?





My MF 1736 has the OEM plastic vented fuel cap (part 7065662M91). Dealer wants around $70 for a new one.





Has anyone successfully used a Kubota M56 × 3 coarse-thread vented plastic cap or any other aftermarket tractor cap (NAPA, Amazon, etc.) as a replacement?

I lost the cap for a mahandra. Went to HomeDepot and found rubber pipe plug for a couple of bucks. Used it until I found the original cap.

Why are you replacing it?

My tc40 had a plastic cap that the vent tit broke off. I simply tapped it to 1/8in not and put two 90* brass street elbows on it. The last one points down and had a plug with a hole drilled in it.
